cyprus air ways

What I don’t understand is “where is the fighting spirit of the young people?”
Question: Cyprus Air Ways – “Our National Carrier” is waiting every Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays to rip off the students who are returning home!
When I was a student we had reduced fair for students. I know that now it is not allowed for Cy Air to substitute the fairs BUT if students through their unions get together they can force Cy Air to give them reduced fairs and if Cy Air don’t respond then if everybody boycott them they will sure will also other air lines may be interested to take this business

Just fly other airlines... "Our National Carrier" can carry on carrying idiots or desperate people...with all sorts of staff strikes and delays.

I think you are over reacting big time.

Airlines all over the world raise prices during Christmas and Easter, because these are peak travel times, and the increased demand for tickets naturally means that they will be more expensive.

Cy Air are not ripping anyone off, but are selling their tickets in accordance with what the marketplace dictates at that point in time. This happens all over the world and so Cy Air is not unique.

You could choose to fly with another carrier, and if you don't like their prices, then sail, or buy your son some Rip Curl boardies and tell him to go for a swim....

Or you can do the patriotic thing and support your national flag carrier at a time of great financial turmoil, thus helping to protect Cypriot Airline jobs. 8)

On this air-fares business....

These cheaper "stand-by" fares, do they exist or are they a myth?

I suppose if you were to purchase a ticket last minute (never done this), then you would probably get a bargain. But you will also risk missing out all together, especially over X-mas. There are some retail websites (which sell 'standby tickets') you can purchase tickets from. But in my experience, the shorter the notice, the higher price that you will pay. The best bet is to purchase your tickets very early.

Also, I never purchase a ticket based on price. I purchase tickets which are convenient, and there are some airlines I won't travel with as a matter of principle.

I refuse to board certain carriers, no matter how cheap.

I'm afraid cheap standby is a thing of the past. 10 years ago, if you waited till the last possible minute to book you could get a seat for peanuts; these days, tha later you leave it the more you'll pay - sometimes a LOT more!

I don't need lessons how to buy tickets.....
I was mainly targeting respoce from "young people"
The question remains “where is the fighting spirit of the young people?”
Today it is tickets tomorrow is something else
The question is "are young people fighting for their rights?

No of course they're not, too obcessed with their touch-screen iPods and their Internet games.

Different in my student days, from what I can remember through the smoky haze of my youth, every other day was a demo or a sit-in, it was one long protest, but you try telling kids that nowadays.
