The question is "are young people fighting for their rights?

I think you are very misguided.

I don't think that "fighting" Cy Air for cheaper tickets would achieve anything, because the company most certainly has the right to sell its tickets in line with market and commercial interests, which would hopefully mean the airline becomes a viable and profit making Airline, otherwise, it will simply dissolve in the future and Cyprus will be left without a national air carrier and the market will become even less competitive.

Encourage your young to fight for the national cause, but not the nation's airline, which is fighting for its own survival. The company has every right to sell its tickets any way it likes, and if you don't like that, then you have the right to go and fly with someone else like Easy Jet or something.

I like to see some Grey hair at the front, so this probably explains the price difference.

Cy Air don't abuse their Pilots either. I hope you can sleep at night!

Cyprus airways is business. How can Students simply expect to get cheap airfares? Students probably should not be able to afford Cyprus airways and should be happy to fly with an Budget carrier. You should not be buying your son's tickets either you will turn him into one of these cypriot boutiropeda we read about. He should get a job less learning and more earning will do him good.

The Easyjet pilots are very experienced; most were recruited from the Japanese 'Divine Wind' Division

You will be pleased to know that I do not abuse plots either ;-)

Spot on!

Cy Air is a full service airline and is one of the safest carriers in the world.

You can't compare it to budget airlines that operate on a shoe string budget, by abusing staff conditions and employing low time Pilots desperate for a job and willing to work for next to nothing!

Anyone remember Helios? They were cheap too!

 Some Easy Jet pilots are experienced.

But there are many young guys who even pay for their own A320 endorsement.

We have employed a few of them in Australia. Most are dieing to leave!

Have you been to Broome?

Easyjet actually have a very sound safety record, with no recorded fatalities that I am aware of, rated 8th safest in Europe and 19th worldwide. I take it you will not want to fly Aeroflot - worst in Europe and 81st overall!

No Aeroflot is one to avoid if possible.

Not my first choice either.

I hate Jet Star, the Qantas subsidiary. I also hate Tiger, a Singapore subsidiary.

God help anyone who books me on any of them, because I will pull the fatigue card...

Qantas is the best by far, followed by Virgin.
