The best malt whisky?

Postby Talisker » Sun Nov 22, 2009 5:38 pm

As my 'nick' suggests I am partial to a good malt whisky from time to time. In fact, I recently tried some cask strength Talisker, and it really was fantastic! Lagavulin is also a cracker. My usual is a little-known malt distilled on the Isle of Mull and called Ledaig (only £15.99 from Morrisons - an absoute bargain!). Anyone got any other recommendations?

Very bad comment, please wash your mouth out with soap and water! Scottish is best when it comes to whisky. IMHO.

I hate whisky/whiskey/Scotch, whatever!

But I love Bailey's Cream. :D

(Maybe I'll start my "Christmas" shopping ...)

I ignored that presuming it was an unintentional mistake. Give the newbie the benefit of the doubt!

Ok, at the risk of showing my very limited knowledge on this important matter.

My fav is not the very widely available Glenfiddich, which find a little too clinical. My pref, of the easily available ones is Glenmorangie, which has a peaty colour and flavour.

For day to day drinking, of the blended whiskies, prefs are for J&B, Bells and Jamiesons.

For cooking I use Teachers.

(On the matter of Baileys, it's not very Left Bank is it? Lacking the flavours of Liberty, Revolution and Enlightenment.)

Jameson Irish Whisky is way better than anything from Scotland, although Talisker is semi OK....
