Whilst working in St Andrews around 10 years ago I became extremely partial to a Laphroaig a singularly wonderful malt from the Isle Of Islay.

I decided on this after many a fine evening testing various malts including your good namesake Talisker

To those of you who have mentioned Baileys, Japanese and Jamesons until you have tasted the smooth 'peetiness' of Laphroaig then you don't know what you are missing.

IMO Jameson's is soulless compared with Scottish whiskies - too clean and clinical for me (it is triple- rather than double-distilled). But each to their own.........

Many folks like Laphroaig - I find it too peaty. Recently tried another Islay malt - the 18 year old Caol Ila, and it was really very nice indeed!

(welcome back our RB)

As I understand it, it's in the water, as far as flavour goes. Has the water passed through rock such as granite or basalts (each if which I gather gives a diff flavour) or also through the overlying peat, in places such as the bogs of Glasgow.

Talisker,

Glen Morangie anyday.

Glenfiddich not so good (especially after drinking the above)

Haven'tn't really tried any others to know.

Scotland is the HOME of Whiskey, never mind the Japanes they just try to copy everything.

Now you've done it, I need a drink, but only have JW black label to hand.
