Soundtech Cyprus - Beware

Postby Raymanoff » Sun Nov 22, 2009 8:42 am

Got my iPhone washed in a washing machine, full cycle. Well, i knew there was a very good chance of survival still... so anyway, i looked up on the Youtube how to disassemble the iPhone which was a piece of cake for me being a technical person anyway. I dried it thoroughly and guess what? It switched on! The only problem of course is LCD matrix, when it gets in contact with water in most of the cases it will never show the same quality image as before. Anwyay, i could still see the picture, the digitizer was also working perfectly and i even received a call... but i thought i should still take it to professionals to have a look at, after all its a very expensive phone.

So, took it to Soundtech in Limassol, told them the story, showed them it worked, all it needed was a screen unit replacement or just LCD since the digitizer was working. All i needed was a price, but they took it in anyway.

5 days later i receive a call from Nicosia... uurmmm... wtf?

"To fix your phone we need 260Eur... " - i was like hello? What the hell my phone is doing in Nicosia? Guys, all i needed is a LCD unit... its on eBay sold for 35$ and to change LCD on iPhone take no more than 10 minutes. I understand the time involved etc but for 260Eur i bought a friggin BLACKBERRY! Anyway, told them... first of all i didnt ask you to take it to Nicosia, all i needed was a price for a screen unit and i think this is way too much so i kindly ask you to send it back.

Well, my phone arrived in total ***cked up condition. The digitizer is now broken, the home button pushed in and doesnt work, the plastic is ripped off... it clearly shows that the person dealing with it had no fu**** clue how to open it!!! and then when they did and after i told them i dont want it to be fixed by them they just thre everything in, pushed 2 pieces together breaking my phone totally and sent it back.

So, before buying anything from these people, just think about the service and professionalism.

I wrote them an email but i don't think it will do much... my phone is just a nice shiny brick now used as a paper weight.

"I brought my Iphone to be examined after it was accidentally "washed" in a washing machine. Being a technical person myself I've managed to carefully disassemble it and dry it out till it switched on! The only problem was a screen which was at very bad contrast. All i needed was a price to replace the screen. The phone was in perfect shape before your technicians touched it!!! i have a broken Digitizer, Broken home button, the screen plastic was ripped out. Sorry to hear about this Raymanoff...

Perhaps you could contact your telco provider and seek a replacement. They may do this for free, depending on your usage of their phone services.

I just got my first Iphone just a few days ago. I must say it is an impressive 'phone'. Their is almost no limit to what it can do.

Now get this! I downloaded an app called NAIPS, and this allows me to lodge Flight Plans with Air Traffic Control and obtain friggin Aeronautical weather and GPS RAIM briefs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in love.....

Where is Palio? I want to be his new Iphone buddy....

I've ordered screen unit from Ebay, complete with button and digitizer for 70Eur... The replacement is only 3 steps, easy... it also comes with a special tools to open it without damaging it. Not the jackhammer that they used to open mine...

Sounds like you have it all sussed out. Good for you.

Still, if they damaged your phone even more than what it was, then they should be good enough to send your phone to a professional and have it fixed at their own cost.

What they should have done is send your phone to an official Apple dealer/repairer. Then it would not have been hacked to death...

One thing I don't like about Cyprus, is the fact that there is absolutely no service to the average consumer, and there is even less protection for the consumer, which is why there are so many money hungry idiots out there, who get away with blue murder.

Paphitis, my Acer laptop fried within the warranty period...apparently its a fault in a particular model. They want 300Eur to replace motherboard (Stephanis).... i was like, yo... its within the warranty period. Yes, but we dont cover motherboard faults :D ha ha ha... i said "Laptop, infact its 1 motherboard with all devices embedded into it, do i look like an idiot?" I told them what was the fault as i took it to service, just for them to call me 1 month later to tell me same thing... again, from Nicosia :) (center of a fucking universe)

BY the way, regarding the laptop... what was the phone for consumer protection? I really want to teach Stephanis a lesson, i am not giving up my rights to the crooks... i will need whole thing replaced or fixed. Also i cannot believe the tactics after spending thousands there buying other laptops and consumables for 2 companies they will now loose me as a customer for a motherboard which costs 90$ on Ebay
