What the hell! Let me get this straight. There was a fault with the motherboard (manufacturer's fault) and then the dealer told you that the motherboard is not covered under warranty and then charges you 300!

Man, I got to start up a business in Cyprus...

Sorry Raymanoff, but you got to laugh. Don't let them get away with that shit.

Yes, infact Stephanis sent to to ACER dealership... dealership wanted money to replace motherboard. I was on the phone with them 2 times and they assured that they cannot do anything else, i have to pay for the replacement :)
I've sent an email to consumer protection people... infact i tried 2 different emails and noone replied :) I am not sure they know what email is... so i will call them tomorrow.
Anyway... MOnday looks like i will have some fun with both Soundtech and Stephanis.

Does it say on the warranty that the motherboard isn't covered?

Hazza... you cant be serious right? Lets say i am a housewive with my most complicated ever device i used was an Iron...

now, i decide to buy a laptop to talk with my Kids who study abroad via Skype... i know that in EU there is a 2 year warranty on all electronic devices, i seen in on TV as a social ad before the cooking show.

Now, i bought the laptop.... it worked for some time but then it just went dead. All i know right now, that it doesn't work... i don't care and i don't even know what a motherboard is... i am a mother of 2 children who wants to talk to her kids on Skype but the frigging thing doesn't work.

:D thats why there is a consumer protection law...

Stephanies? hmmmm.. Your not the only one m8. I bought an HTC 2 years ago from them 850 euros from the first month it faced problems charging. I checked everything changing batteries to chargers even formatted the phone. Anyhow after 1.5 month i send it to stephanies they take it in (phone was brand new) they held it for about 2 months since they didnt know what the hell was wrong with it. they send it back to me saying its fine. Then again after 1 week same thing happens. So I send it back again on the first day. took it in for another 3 months. anyhow this was going on for about 1.5 year. Until they said we know what the problem is, its the motherboard of the phone and needs to be changed so you have to pay 300 euros to change it. what about my warranty well the only thing it covers is their bullshit sympathy when you have a problem with your phone and torturing you more.

Anyhow my dads a lawyer so we warned them if something is not done we are going to sue them. They still didnt give a fuck. Then we just gave up and didnt give a fuck about 800 euro going into all that fuss.

Lesson learned never trust any shops in Cyprus especially on phones and electronics. Just order them from ebay.

Got my iphone 3GS 32gb for 738euro same day delivery. Brand new in box so happy with it no problems.

yo raymanoff how the hell did you forget your iphone in your pocket? that is so lol

Lets give credit where its due...I know a woman (from the north) who recently asked me if there was any local HP service point to repair her faulty HP laptop she purchased in UK.
Since she had purchased the laptop from UK and it was still under warranty i advised her to take it back to UK to a proper HP service point.
Few weeks ago she called me to let me know she contacted HP UK and explained her problem and they gave her details of the HP Cyprus dealer for ROC,so she took it in and they replaced her graphics card free of charge.
This is the second time (that i personally experienced) laptops purchased in UK were repaired in Cyprus free of charge because they were still under manufacturers guarantee..

Its a matter of finding the authorized dealer for a product to trust your equipment..

Raymanoff wrote:Paphitis, my Acer laptop fried within the warranty period...apparently its a fault in a particular model. They want 300Eur to replace motherboard (Stephanis).... i was like, yo... its within the warranty period. Yes, but we dont cover motherboard faults :D ha ha ha... i said "Laptop, infact its 1 motherboard with all devices embedded into it, do i look like an idiot?" I told them what was the fault as i took it to service, just for them to call me 1 month later to tell me same thing... again, from Nicosia :) (center of a fucking universe)

You should’ve sent me a pm! I used to handle all the Acer, IBM, Compaq, and HP warranties in Nicosia so I know the center and people there!

Btw, Acer replaces ALL parts within the warranty period so this guy didn’t know what he was talking about, UNLESS you purchased the Acer laptop from a non-EU zone because Acer is the only brand that has REGIONAL WARRANTY. ie: If you bring an Acer from the US, Cyprus can never make a warranty claim for it, etc.
