Here is an extract from one of the above cases which gives the only dissenting opinion, that from the Judge from Turkey who gives "nil points" to CY.

This biased judge from Turkey says ....

DISSENTING OPINION OF JUDGE KARAKAŞ

"Unlike the majority, I consider that the objection of non-exhaustion of domestic remedies raised by the Government should not have been rejected. Consequently, I cannot agree with the finding of violations of Article 1 of Protocol No. 1 and Article 8 of the Convention, for the same reasons as those mentioned in my dissenting opinion in the case of Gavriel v. Turkey (no. 41355/98, 20 January 2009)."

All the other eminent judges found that that Tnucland's Property Commision Scam was a load of pollocks.

Was the fact that roc did everything they could to prevent GCs from applying to the said commission taken into consideration by these brown tounge arse licking judges? Or were they looking the other way at the time?

GR tks for the insight, 1st I'd heard of it.

In summation, is the principle issue pending the amount of compensation to be awarded that needs to be decided upon?

If you read some of them you’ll find that every case is different, but almost always Turkey is required to pay legal fees, rent in arrears, sometimes psychological and similar damages, but Greek Cypriots STILL own the property!

Ooh! And there was Acikgoz thinking Turkey was going to buy her way into "legal ownership" of the north by paying some "compensation" ...

Well, let's see what these claims for compensation against Turkey might amount to in money terms, and keep in mind these payments are compensation for temporary loss of use, the property remains with the rightful owners.

There are still 1400 cases before the ECHR and so with settled cases can we round that figure up to 1500? (so far!!!)

Awards to date include the following .....

"Greek Cypriot refugee Myra Xenides Aresti. In 2005 the ECHR found Turkey guilty of violation of the applicant's right to enjoy peacefully her property in Turkish occupied Famagusta and has ordered damages reaching 890,000 euro. The second case concerns Greek Cypriot refugee Ioannis Demades. The Court ordered Turkey in April 2008 to pay 830,000 euro for loss of use of his property in the northern coastal town of Kyrenia, occupied by Turkish troops since the Turkish invasion in 1974."

Can we round that to 800, 000 Euros per case? Just for the sake of a Sunday night conversation?

Oh dear, now where's my slide rule?

1500 cases x 800,000 Euros each = 1,200,000,000 Euros

Christos je Panayia! .... that's an awful lot of Euros!

1.2 Billion of them!

....and more to come.

1.2 billion Euros compensation from Turkey...? And they don't even get to keep the land they snatched...?

In the words of YFred:

"That's just SO unfair!"
