Should Talat claim political asylum in the UK?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Of course, the YFred clan member will need to claim political asylum alongside our brave, new heroic leader, Mehmet (we are not worthy) Talat - who will stop at nothing to secure an end to the isolation for his long-suffering people.

Indeed, Talat's whole entourage will have to be in on the plan, or face certain arrest on return to the collapsing northern military regime. You ought to warn them, YFred.

YFred clan do not need to claim political asylum, we have independence in Lurucina. Try going there without showing your passport (TCs inc). Only Lurucadis are allowed in old boy.

 You turn a perfectly serious thread into a farce...

The subject of Talat claiming political asylum is serious, what's your real name John McEnroe? You've got to be joking?

Humour is a funny way of being serious, YFred. I'm glad you find it so funny; because this thread is incredibly serious.

If that is your idea of a serious subject matter, then I'll leave you to it. You can enjoy it with the rest of the nuts on the forum.

This is what the asylum-seeking Talat, and his entourage, would be singing to Turkey's military from No. 10 Downing Street; if he had the balls.

(And is that YFreddie in the shades?)

What a crazy idea you guys have, that a President of a country should seek political Asylum from himself, I can see MI5 hafin a laugh at that one.
Perhaps he should present no 10 with this song.

Or even this one may be more relevant than what you suggested old chap.

"I want to beak Free" is perfect, YFreddie. Respect. Together we can make Talat Queen of Cyprus!

And stop being deliberately obtuse. He's not breaking free from himself, but from Turkey's military - which prevents him from representing his people at the reunification negotations. Jesus, I'm nore interested in TC freedom than you are!

I thought you may like that song.

We discussed this before. The situation is very simple. If Muhtar X took Talat to one side and said to him, break away from Turkey, I will pay your civil service till your economy is strong enough to support itself with the view of unifying the two economies in the future with all the barriers removed. I think Talat would ditch Turkey and then you may see some action.
But in the mean time while Turkey is paying for everything, nobody in their right mind would do anything to upset the balance. You GCs are really fantastic at detail but really crap at the big picture which makes you very short sighted as a society.
Sorry about that, but I don't mince my words, I say what I feel and I feel what I say. I should have been born in Yorkshire.

Then you would be sending flowers to Talats grave. Do you think that extremeists would sit on their hands and do nothing?

Great idea. Christofias makes the offer, then Talat claims asylum, then when Turkey's army goes, the RoC bankrolls the north until Talat becomes president of a reunified country with all barriers removed.

This will not be done in a day. A peace agreement will be sent to the people to vote. When the vote is counted, if the extremist decide to ignore the vote, perhaps it will take some fighting to free Cyprus. I did say there will be some action. Of course they will not take it so lightly.
