They came to be "free", yet chose to become drug lords!
Speaks volumes....
I used to do interpreting for the Home Office at Heathrow. I was present at many interviews with people who said they were Kurds - although they wanted a Turkish language interpreter - and were claiming assylum because they said they faced persecution in Turkey. These people were obviously very well coached for the interview and knew full well that simply mentioning the magic words 'Kurdish' and 'asylum' was all that was required to get them in. I have my doubts as to whether many of these people were in fact Kurds. The asylum system needs to be tightened up so that it provides shelter for those genuinely fleeing persecution but cannot be exploited by those who have other motives for entering the country.
So - Turks are Kurds when it suits Turks, and when it suits Turks Kurds must be Turks? How convenient!
