I thought you invited the TAF over for coffee.

or is it the Australian Airforce?

My friends said they were the Turkish Stars returning back to Turkey .Before they go they made little show over the capital . They were at Ercan airport . no worry at all .

They were violating RoC airspace again and should be shot down. How dare they, trying to act provocatively and agreesively towards the RoC, this is weakening the peace process.

Bloody cheek!

Did they cross over the green line? If they did and you have the balls, then why don't you shoot at them? Are you in the habit of committing suicide? But what ever you do don't take everybody else with you.

they were only show planes . they are not war planes .

Show planes, war planes, civil planes, they have no authority to fly over Cyprus WITHOUT RoC permission.

Just because we don't have the might to shoot them down does not make it right or legal, or justify your might it right attitude.

Only the RoC is the recognised sovereign holder of this land and anything else is illegal. So you go F yourselves.

The lack of balace of "might" cannot go on indefinitely. GCs are doing their best for a peaceful solution, but if this is not achieved because of Turks' arrogant behaviour, then a war may need to take place eventually.

In 20 years, things may be different.. technological advancements in weapons may mean that deep in the future both the vast Turkey and the tiny Cyprus will have weapons that could completely destroy each other, making any kind of war a loss-loss scenario, hence effectively eliminating this factor.

If Turks want a peaceful Cyprus for the long-term, they should focus on finding an objectively fair solution and not seek to keep the spoils of war through imposing their military might on GCs.

I completely agree with the above red highlighted part of ur post, Tony but finding an objectively fair solution has never meant for us to accept minority status that has been something GC and Greek leaderships strongly desired... and it seems still that is what they desire...

Doesn't the same thing apply to TCs as well? If roc can have them so will we. There is one difference however. In such a situation Turks will go to war, but you will not, because they are not afraid to be killed. In that instance they still have the upper hand.
It's the old Russian Roulette game with a difference. They fire into each other's head instead. Ask the Russian, he'll tell you.

GCs do not want to impose anything on TCs or "opress" them in any way, despite what you think, so your point is not relevant. Yesterday's poll said that 60% of younger GCs prefer not to have anything to do with TCs. This is the outcome of the Turkish strategy.

As for being afraid to be killed etc - trust me, no nation will be willing to start a war if they know from the start that this will mean, with certainty, the total anihilation of this nation from the face of the planet. It is time the world became a more civilised place, governed by mutual respect and the rule of law.

If Turkey accepts a fair solution in Cyprus, which will require giving up some of the spoils of war, then the future for Cyprus, Turkey and the region will be bright. If not, we all stand to lose in the long term.

No the correct figure is 20%. About the same as those who voted for Annan plan which was also partition.
