Took a trip up to peyia today, was pretty disappointed...

Roads littered with garbage, generally unpaved, tatty and uneven.
Although I was surprised to see some new modern buildings and shops.
The general feel of the place was like everywhere else, untidy and dirty.
Unremarkable when one takes into consideration the demographics of the village. Can anybody enlighten me as to how big the British community is over there?

What made you think it should have been different then everywhere else?

Maybe you're right.
I don't want to go into an indepth discussion about it.
We'll just leave it at that. My bad.

Sadly, we are spoiling our lovely country. Litter, poor road repairs, builders' spoil, abandoned vehicles......

I honestly do NOT get the people who b*tch and whine about how Cyprus has all these problems, that it's unclean and bla bla bla. If you don't like it, just leave, i'm sure we'll do just fine without you, maybe even better!

Buit kangarooster, unless we complain about these shortcomings nothing will be done about them - are we to accept second best?

It is not just Cyprus, we pay for services no matter in which country you decide to live, therefore if that service is not up to standard then complaints within reason are acceptable, otherwise nothing is ever going to improve, of course may not change anything either.

I certainly do not want to live in the middle of a scrap yard or an illegal dumping ground in any country.
