If you could pick up Cyprus and replace her anywhere else in the world, where would you place this lovely island? :D

Here's a map to mull over ...

Umm.... I love it just where it is, if anything I would move it little west closer towards the greek islands... (Maybe then I might be able to find that "Silver Back")

Where would you put it Oracle?

Near Iceland would be much safer and peaceful but ... too cold! :( Or between Crete and Malta. That is the only other place in the Mediterranean that would comfortably fit Cyprus!

I am happy where Cyprus is; but if you insist on an alternative site, the Carribean will do - swimming distance from the the Turks and Caicos islands. The occasional storms would serve Antreis well in clearing up the rubbish.

There are three other potential spots I would consider .... but the first, alluded to by Phill and Sotos, which would retain (and refresh) Cyprus' adored idiosyncratic culture, may not go down too well with the likes of GR!

But, I agree with Kanga ... there is a nice big expanse in the South Atlantic Ocean halfway between Brazil and Angola, which should provide enough sunshine, and it's not afflicted by earthquakes/tsunamis, methinks, and far away from Middle-Eastern geopolitical interests ...

That choice shows you haven't got a clue about the long-term interests and comforts of Cypriots. Those islands have been the objects of repeated ownership disputes and have suffered even more from pirating than poor Cyprus ... in fact that's why they were called "Turk" because that was the term for pirates in the 17/18th Century ... Turk=Pirates!

So nope, it ain't going there!

(Of course, Cyprus would be the big kahuna there; and perhaps invade the little islands to colonise as our own 8) )

That is why I put it there, where there will be NO external influences and Cypriots will be living together happily ever after. The Turks and Caicos islands were my choice of neighbors as the beaches were wonderful.

As for the piracy, you still live in the past. I thought of the Indian Ocean/Maldives , but considered the Somalian Piratis and the Tsunamis, so changed my mind.

Ionian if there's space between Greece and Italy. We would have been the front line against the Italians in the 2WW and the movie would have been called Captain Pirillos's Bithkiavli.

Much easier neighbours to deal with.

OR

In the middle of the Black Sea. The island would look so cool there in a map. :D

Right then.

My options are either...

1. More closer to santorini so can just hope on a small boat to get there

2. In the middle of the atlantic....nice and secluded!!

or

JUST WHERE IT IS BUT MOVE THE STUPID PEOPLE FROM IT!!!!!!!!!
