Don't know about bulldozers but Mr Apostolides will be the proud owner of an English country home soon.

So, couple of donums of land for an English country house, that's fair isn't it. If the judge goes for it, he should be strung up, quartered and then hanged till dead.

don't be upset, thats how the law works.

isn't it a house in the cheap end of Brighton? Anyway Mr A wont get the house but the money awarded in the RoC court and the Os will only have to worry if they refuse to pay.

It's a question of enforcing the judgement. If the Orams don't have enough cash to pay Apostolides then they wiil have to sell their house in Hove to raise the funds. Apostolides will still own his land in Cyprus whatever the outcome.

For the superstitious, the judgement may be delivered on Friday 13th.

Now why would the predominantly Muslim North be worried about a superstition bases on the date Christ was crucified?

the Os could claim bankruptcy - i think you get to keep your main home and the tools of your trade in UK law...

Will I lose my home?
The official receiver or the trustee (if an
insolvency practitioner has been appointed in
place of the official receiver) may have to sell
your home to help pay your bankruptcy
debts. This applies whether the home is
freehold or leasehold and whether it is solely
or jointly owned.
Please note that if your home is mortgaged
and you fall behind with your payments, your
lender may be able to sell your home. You
should consider contacting your lender about
your bankruptcy and your mortgage
payments.

From the above document, this is very interesting.
Can anything be done to stop the official?
receiver or trustee selling my home?

Your husband, wife, partner, a relative or
friend may be able to buy your beneficial
interest in the home. This will stop the official
receiver or trustee selling your home later.

or this one judging by current property values in the UK and negative equity

When will the official receiver or trustee
sell my home?

The trustee will sell your home if this is the
only way to release money to your creditors.
If your husband, wife or children are living
with you, it may be possible for the sale to
be put off until the end of the first year after
your bankruptcy. This gives them time to
make other housing arrangements.
After that time, if the trustee's interest in the
house remains, the court will only refuse an
order for sale in exceptional circumstances
or if the value of your interest in the property
is worth less than £1,000.

I assume the Orams (note the thread title) are Christians.

Don't "think" the law, look it up. You are wrong in this case.

Can I just say two things to the Harems and others in their predicament ... the best of luck to them..... they're going to need a shedfull of it and ...

It may not be too late to go and see Mr A and admit that they've been found out and to make over to Mr A an acknowledgement the land is his and to agree to start paying some rent.

BS. The Friday 13th thing has a number of possible origins, but not the one you mention! The most popular has to do with the Knights Templar.

Anyway, in Cyprus it is Tuesday the 13th that is bad luck. Friday is left for the Papists!
