Mopeds

Postby Hazza » Mon Nov 09, 2009 11:47 pm

What is the legal age for riding mopeds in Cyprus?

Reason I ask is because I just read this in the Cyprus Mail.
A TEENAGE boy from Nicosia was yesterday in critical condition after sustaining head injuries during a wheelie that went wrong.

The accident took place a little before midnight on Friday, when the 15-year-old was riding an unregistered motorbike on Zakynthos Street in Pallouriotissa.

Attempting to level his bike after doing a wheelie, the youngster lost control and was overturned, his bike landing on top of him.

Not wearing a helmet, the 15-year-old sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital, where he has since been on life support.

How many more kids need to get seriously injured or killed before the authorities do something about this? The amount of people that I have seen riding mopeds or bikes wearing a helmet around their elbow is ridiculous.

As I'm typing this, the annoying sounds of mopeds are racing past my appartment with you guessed it, kids without helmets.

You should visit Marrakesh, bloody mopeds everywhere and stinking the place out. I visited there a few years ago and the co2's almost killed me next day, coughing like I was on 60 a day!

it's not the kids fault, parents should be fined HEAVILY if their kid got caught riding a bike underaged. i'm a perfectly normal person had a very nice and healthy life until now and i never even wanted to ride a bike. why? i think everything starts from how you are brought up. there was a family in Peyia with only one boy about 15, he is cypriot and he have a british friend who is 17, that was about 2 or 3 months ago, the 15 years old boy had a bike, not a moped tho a proper 250 cc bike! and he and his friend went showin off on the road making all those weird moves with the bike, he lost control and what do you think happen, the british boy died instantly and the other boy still in hospital i think or he also died, i saw the mom of the boy that died, she is heart broken and i dont think she will ever get over it since she have no more kids that was her only son and he died because of stupid teenage showin off but cant say whos fault is it, is it the law and the police for not doing their job and stopping all those stupid yopung people from killing them self, or it is the fault of a real dum stupid parents who gives a 250 cc motor bike to a teenager or is it the fault of the teenager for being stupid!!!!

Fuckin 250 cc motor bike, it will scare the shiot out of me riding it!!! who have any brain in their little heads to get a strong fast bike to a little boy !

Call me old fashion, but dont you miss the good old days when you knew your 15 year old was in the safety of his home.

I hope someone asks his parents about their responsibilities in bringing up children.

A few years back.....in fact quite a few years back, I came to Cyprus on holiday. I was in my late teens. I went to a bike hire shop to rent a moped. They had run out but they were trying to rent out a 250cc bike to me instead. I explained that I didn't have a licence to ride one of those and I wouldn't know how to ride it.

Their responce.... Empirazi, its automatic. Its just like riding a fast moped.

Went across the road and rented a cheap car instead!

There are many people to blame when such desaters occur..

The goverment
The Police
School
Relatives
Friends
co-villigers/neighbours

I DONT BELIEVE PARENTS DO NOT KNOW WHERE THEIR CHILDREN (BABIES) ARE WHEN THEY ARE NOT HOME OR EVEN HOW THEY GET TO WHERE THEY GO!!!

WE LEARN EVERYTHING FROM HOME FIRST GOOD & BAD

I BLAME THE PARENTS MOST OF ALL.

THE REST ARE JUST EXCUSSES FINDING SOMEONE ELSE TO PUT THE BLAME ON
