I believe Waynes Keep is in the Buffer Zone of the Green Line though access to it is restricted and controlled by the Turkish Army; that being the reasoning to place the memorial in Kyrenia. My opinion is that it would have been a more magnaminous gesture to open up unfettered access to Waynes Keep and allow the relations of the fallen to visit their loved ones any time they want to.

Probably the most sensible and relevant post in this thread. The Telegraph toffs must have known that a memorial in the north would offend the GCs. Why did they not try and persuade their friends the Turks to allow them access to Waynes Keep. The cemetery already exists, its the most obvious and least offensive place for memorial ceremonies and remembrance services.
