This memorial commemorates the British forces who died during the period 1955-59.The cemetery is British.
I am sorry I cannot be at the ceremony tomorrow, but I will be thinking of the families of the men and the civilian women who were murdered- shot in the back.
What really sickens me is the blame game, the lies that are coming out of this in Cyprus. The invective from the Chairman of the EOKA Veterans Association beggars belief; he likens it to England allowing a monument to Germans who died there in WW2. In fact the UK is mature enough to do just that; there is a monument for the Germans in UK. Unfortunately Cyprus is way off the maturity league, being under 50 years independent and having become divided after only 14 years and blaming all outsiders ever since for the CYProb.
The correspondent in today's Cyprus Weekly, Philippos Stylianou, suggests the monument is mainly the initiative of the Brits who settled in "illegal"" properties in the North. Well are you??? I'd be interested to hear about this and why don't you email Fil Ippos and tell him so. [email protected]
You will find his article under features in Cyprus weekly on-line.

Whatever the British politicians' motives, at that time, the men in the forces were serving their country and fighting terrorists (heroes here), so
I would like to say that this monument is solely to honour and respect the sacrifice that the young men made for their country.

The aim is clear... so there's no need to politicise the issue and make a fuss... As a TC I'm thankful to British policemen and soldiers who fought against Enosists and did not allow them to unite my island with Greece. They deserved a memorial monument in TRNC.

Live and let us live; that's what all I wish...

Why you invaded Cyprus then and you started a war against us? Go back from where you came from so we can end the war you started and we can all live in peace!

May also say that when we've finished off the Jerkish Regime and the little matter of the Occupation, there's going to be an awful lot of people with time on their hands who can turn their attention to the remaining matter of Mr and Mrs Rhubarb Man, The Land Stealers, the Second Illegal Attempted GB Colonisation, and done so in Traditional CY Ways.

Almost because of the similar reasons previous invaders invaded Cyprus. Why did Hittites, Achean Greeks, Byzantians, Egyptians, Assyrians, Venetians etc invaded Cyprus?

Bill, the only responsible of the on-going situation r not Turks-TCs and Brits. Don't forget that there has been no attempt by GC side on solving the peoperties issue since 1974... another fact is that, only the 7% of GC properties in North was sold to foreigners in the last 35 years. Had the properties and territory under control of each community issues been solved in the last 35 years; the properties that were sold to foreigners would have been the properties belonged to TCs... and Turks-TCs-Brits r not the only responsibles of not resolved properties issue either.

So why do u feel exaggerating the issue and lowly accuse those people as land stealers, thieves, new colonisers etc?

Do u want me to accuse ur side with a similar manner? I've told u that in such situations it's not difficult to retaliate with a similar manner.
