In his letter, Mr Erdogan wrote; ‘We have been encouraging the Cyprus Turkish side for a solution. And, we hope to see the same encouragement by Greece to the Greek Cypriot Administration. Let’s work together for peace’.

Turkey’s EU accession process was also referred to, in Erdogan’s letter.

How would we reunite Cyprus? By accepting minority status? Palio, even if there r no settlers and Turkish troops in North we wouldn't reunite Cyprus as long as Greek-GC national Front and their supporters consider TC community as a minority like muslims in Greece.

So stop hiding behind empty and baseless excuses... In essential ,solution of the Cyprus problem has nothing to do with Turkish troops and settlers.

Had TCs sufficient military power there would have been just around 2-3 thousands of Turkish troops in TRNC. Had TRNC not isolated TC emigration rate would be almost equal to GC emigration rate and instead of settlers there would have been around 250.000 + TCs living in TRNC... and as long as ur national front and it's supporters insist on making TCs a minority none of the TCs would accept ur demand of GC rule. Got it?

According to the same source, Papandreou has already planned the basic guidelines of his reply, and because he is solely engaged in writing the response, evidences his interest in the progress of Greece-Turkey relations. The Greek prime minister was also expected to voice his support for Erdoğan's efforts to comply with EU directives and to accept Erdoğan's suggestion for a high-level council of cooperation in which all major issues that arise between both nations will be discussed.

In his letter, Erdoğan expressed his belief that issues between Greece and Turkey could be solved via an honest and in-depth dialogue between the two parties, according to a Greek diplomatic source who asked to remain anonymous. “Erdoğan made some very progressive suggestions with regard to the Cyprus issue and the Aegean disputes, which will cause very interesting reactions from both sides if they are published,” the source said. The Turkish prime minister went on to reaffirm his stance that Turkey “wants zero-problems with neighbors.”
