The Cyprus memorial trust has been formed to honor the 371 servicemen that died leading to the independence of Cyprus in 1960. There will be a permanent memorial unveiled in Kyrenia(Northern Cyprus) on Remembrance day on 8th November 2009. The memorial will remember the 371 that died including; 28 from the Royal Marines and Royal Navy, 69 from the RAF, and 274 from the Army.
The resting place of those remembered is in the British military cemetery at Wayne's Keep, which has restricted access. For this reason the memorial will be placed in the old British cemetery in Kyrenia.(Northern Cyprus)
