How much do I need to spend for a place on the beach?

Postby GG » Thu Nov 05, 2009 12:12 pm

I'd like to buy a minimum 3 bedroom apartment on the beach somewhere in larnaca. I am quite flexible, a nice complex with communal pool would be great. But when I say on the beach I mean ON THE BEACH not near the beach, I dont want to cross any roads, literally to come outta the complex and be a few yards from the sand.

I currently have a one bed there on the beach but the whole developemnet has been run down, they filled the pool with mud and planted trees (without asking anywone) and the whole place is crumbling.

I've searched on BuySell but the search uptions dont give you the choice to specify on the beach.

Any ideas of where I can look or what I need to pay? Something along Dhekelia Road would be fine.

Sand isn't a good base to build on so I doubt you will find any developer building on the beach........

Unless its already on the beach and up for sale I would think 600k to a 1m, as new builds are now properly controlled and a 'white zone' stops any near to 'a beach' at all. Your best bet would be to find developers who are currently refurbing ex hotels already in beachside positions, to luxury apts BUT these are the prices I quoted above at least they were  If you have one on the beach I would cling to it for dear life frankly  Who needs a Pool when you have the beautiful Mediteranean  Get a Developer interested in your block to maybe buy it off you but would they get planning to refurb? Beaches are protected from buildings much more now as they should be, so its not going to be as close as you will like. Unless of course you have heaps of money.

WOW, that much? I dont really care if its not a newbuild. As long as it has an established system where the cummunal parts and pool and parking etc are all mainatained. The current place I have, the various leaseholder have all fallen out with eachother and the place has fallen apart, currently looks nothing like what it did when i bought it. Each flat has painted their own balcony different colour, the communal plants and trees have all died. The building is crumbling and nobody wants to pay to repair it. Its a mess. I know the place has value because of its location but quite frankly I dont like being there anymore. We even had a restaurant in the complex which the restaurant owner decided to turn into a house without permission he got halfway and run outta money and so it looks like building site now.

You can find a 3-bed in Makenzy with communal pool for around 200-250,000 euros if you look. Not on the sand, but on the shorefront road.

GG where's your 1 bed on the beach in Larnaka? Are you going to sell? Have a colleague who'd be interested.
