The 7th International Congress on Cyprus Studies has started at Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel in Famagusta.

The three day congress was organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University’s Centre for Cyprus studies.

The 7th International Congress on Cyprus Studies started this morning with the participation of scientists from Northern Cyprus, Turkey, South Cyprus, the United States, Poland, Italy, Britain, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Some 40 papers will be presented by scientists during the congress which will continue until Friday.

The aim of the congress is to open up a discussion platform for the analysis, development, exchange and critique of ideas on Cyprus-related matters.

The papers to be submitted at the congress will make an evaluation of the Cyprus Issue, the United Nations and the European Union, relations between the TRNC and the US, political relations between Azerbaijan and the TRNC as well as Washington’s diplomatic ties with Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.

Papers will also be submitted on history, litrature, language and education.
