THE EVENT WAS HELD AT THE LOKMACI BARRICADE AND THE LEDRA STREET
A bi-communal event has been held at the Lokmacı Barricade and the Ledra Street with the participation of Turkish and Greek Cypriot teachers, students and parents.

The bicommunal event was organized by Teachers Platform `United Cyprus`, the Soma Akriton Youth Organization, the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research, the Society for Reconciliation and the European Commission Representation in Cyprus.,

The event, titled “Nicosia March” is aimed at creating an opportunity for Turkish and Greek Cypriot students aged between 10 and 16, to collect information about historical places in the capital.

In a statement on behalf of the United Cyprus Teachers’ Platform, the Cyprus Turkish Teachers Union General Secretary Sener Elcil pointed out that important responsibilities lie on teachers in the development of communities adding that their aim was to bring the two communies closer and to support the ongoing negotiations between the two sides.
He noted that touristic and historic places in North and South Nicosia would be visited as part of the event.

message has gone ......

kids were visiting historic places in north and south Nicosia . No need to spoils mind of these young boys and girls .

Also there is a another event goes on every weekend now .TC and GC boys and girls are together visiting villages at both side of the island with buses. They are all trying to understand everything by living and entertaining each other not what they heard from others.
I know this coming together annoning lots of people from both side of the island. I congratulate their families not listening what they says about them and their population increasing everyday .

Only joking Halil, I know exactly what you mean. People from both communities in London are against peace with some exceptions and people living in Cyprus are trying to get together and form friendships. Long may it continue? It's been going on a long time and is having an effect.

Compared to the time when the crossings were closed, it’s a lot better now that they are not. It can only improve as time goes on, no matter what happens to these negotiations. We are not about to give up hope yet.
