Harry D Jones 1952 - 2009
Harry Jones, Husband to Pip, Father to Jenny,
Marie and Harry Jnr. Grand father and friend to
many many people.
Harry officially started diving in Sept 86 and
qualified as a BSAC Novice Diver in Jan 87,
and by May of the same year he achieved his
Sports diver qualification. Because of his love
for diving he achieved his Dive leader status by
the end of Jun 87. After falling out with the BSAC
way of diving Harry didn’t proceed any further with
his diving education, but continued to dive all over
the place. He dived in lakes, quarries, rivers and
seas, in Germany, Cuba, Cyprus, Egypt just to
name a few.
In June 2009, Harry saw the light, and started his
conversion to PADI by attending his Rescue Diver
course and then turned professional when he
passed his Dive Master course in August.
Harry loved diving in Cyprus, but his favourite
dive was the Zenobia. He called the wreck
“His Lady”. He notched up over 300 dives
on the wreck and loved to explore the deep
dark depths of the wreck with his buddy.
Together they visited many places including
the engine room, chain locker
and all three cargo decks to name a few.
Harry’s love of diving was second to none
and he loved to help inexperienced divers to
better themselves and improve their diving skills.
Harry left us on 13th September 2009 and
will be sorely missed by the diving community
in Cyprus but will never be forgotten.
