Well it seems that a two state solution is wanted by the t/c and i really wondered if it is also wanted by g/c as well. These talks dont seem to be going anywere quickly.Should the Roc and the t/c in the north hold duel referandums with choices on what the people really want?

If there can be a AGREED partition what would it look like?

a)land percantages
b)militay withdrawl
c)property restitution
d)t/c new state fast track for the EU

I'm all for a two-state solution. The T/Cs can start a state in Eastern Turkey and call it the Eastern Turkish Republic of Mongolia (ETRM). They could even have their own airport. They can leave the rest of us in peace in a unitary Republic of Cyprus. That is a solution I would gladly sign up for. I would even agree for a fast-track to EU membership if the ETRMs wanted to be EU citizens. Will Turkey give up some land for such a deal? I don't see why not. Think of all the benefits. It might even help the Turks with their own EU application.

If there is an agreement the following would apply:

a)land percentages. 100% Republic of Cyprus. 100% Eastern Turkish Republic of Mongolia.
b)military withdrawal. All Turkish troops will be eligible for ETRM citizenship.
c) property restitution. Any goats dispossessed of land in Anatolia can be slaughtered and eaten.
d/new fast track state for the EU. The ETRM will get into the EU when Turkey joins, i.e. probably never.

I say we hold a referendum before December 2009.

This may be an alternative but let us not forget the Kurds. They must be given their own state too. I am sure we could use all the TC arguments for statehood of the 'TRNC' and apply it to Kurdistan. A two or three state solution for Turkey is the best alternative to end the suffering and isolation of the Kurdish people.

Nick, thats old hat, they will just say the Kurds are not the same as the Cyprus problem. Any excuse that suits them.

I even offer to support them if they give the Kurds what they demand in Cyprus.

But as hermes say, a brilliant plan.

Turks go home, leave us in peace.

Thanks

That's it, I got the message, I had enough, packed my bags and I am off.
Which country shall I invade next?
Who ever you are going to suggest further info required.
What percentage land will I be able to grab?
How many wives do they allow a man to have?
What is the payments for unemployment?
How many bedrooms do the houses they offer have?
Does it come with air conditioning and a pool?
Is there lots of easy women nearby that do not require payments?
I am not going to any old country, there are certain standards I am used to and a reputation to protect, know what I mean?
I wait in anticipation?
From the unwanted.
Regards

Fred, you can stay if you like. As a citizen of the Republic you would be eligible for all the benefits of our first-class economy and health and welfare system. If you work hard enough you can get a house with air-conditioning and a pool. If you want to set up your own state then you would have to take your chances in Anatolia. It's not what you are used to. But it won't be stolen land (except for the goats) so you can start a new life with a clear conscience and without the fear of legal action. With EU assistance your new Turkish statelet would be up and running in a few years. But bear in mind that your compatriots won't be getting handouts and would have to work for a living.

A tough call I know...
