CYPRUS SUMMIT IN ANKARA !!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby halil » Fri Oct 30, 2009 3:57 pm

The Cyprus negotiation process is being discussed in detail in Ankara.

Talat having contacts with Gül , Erdoğan and Davutoğlu ......

Mr Gül underlined the need to set a timetable for the Cyprus negotiation process and to put an agreement to be reached at the talks to a referendum.

Stressing that Ankara wanted the Cyprus problems to be solved by the end of the year, Mr Gul said “if not, Turkey wants the process to be concluded within an acceptable time limit.”.

Gül noted “the opposite will be seen as a delaying tactic”.

Shocking ideas and warnings?

Of what exactly?

Perhaps pulling out some troops?

May be giving back Varosha?

Perhaps allow some GC's to resettle in the north?

Perhaps open a port or two?

Or is it pursuit of recognition?

Will Turkey be concilliatory and show her soft side (does she have one?) or be tough, testosterone filled and uncompromising to teach the GC's a lesson or two about who is the boss in the region. Hmm I bet that would go down very well with EU countries. Is this an example of how Turkey will conduct herself when she is in the EU?

I cannot see how or why Turkey would do anything concrete such as handing over Varosha at this stage because it would weaken the position of Talat and the T.C's in the negotiations and create a feeling of euphoria on this side that Turkey had finally caved-in to pressure etc!
More than likely there will declarations of intent which will sound very impressive but actually give nothing away in reality, just to turn up the pressure on the G.C's!
Of course I hope I am wrong but I doubt it!

Anything Turkeys signs is not worth the paper it is written on.

Who can trust them??

Where is their commitment tot he 8th July agreement of opening ports and so on???

Their back peddling with the Armanian agreement of recent.

Come on, I know I am a pessimist where Turkeys is involved but F me, where have they shown integrity??

It's is just hot air, they have no intentions of anything. I think the NG should be put on defcon 2, you can never be sure of these buggers.

It is all just political posturing.

'Turkey is illegally occupying Cyprus. If they want a solution they should just stop the crimes. Otherwise the Cyprus problem will continue and it will be their fault.
