Turkey is illegally occupying Cyprus. If they want a solution they should just stop the crimes. Otherwise the Cyprus problem will continue and it will be their fault.

It's all over bar the shouting??

Postby cymart » Mon Nov 02, 2009 4:28 pm

Turkey have realised this problem has run its course and is a pain the neck to them, the Turkish Cypriots want a solution desperately and most Greek-Cypriots care only about making sure their consumerist lifestyle is not upset by any solution that is agreed by the politicians.....the E.U. and the rest of the world would breathe a sigh of relief, especially those countries who have to contribute financially towards UNFICYP etc.Greece has a massive budget deficit and being on good terms with Turkey would allow them to cut their defence budget drastically. The major piece in the jig-saw puzzle is of course the guarantees and if Turkey is serious and is prepared to negotiate a formula which would prevent their generals from ever using their army unilaterally here again and equally important, allow them to withdraw their troops in a way would avoid anyone losing face, then the G.C's would back a solution, especially as compromises on the other issues are feasible via the Christophias/Talat negotiations.Otherwise it is inconceivable how they could be expected to endorse any kind of deal without resolving the security aspects.

After all the millions of exchanges we have seen on this forum,is there really any other feasible or obtainable way out of our dilemma??It's a win-win situation and should be seen that way,not as a glass half empty by those who did not see all their demands met!
