http://peoriatimes.com/articles/2009/10 ... news11.txtNoor Almaleki, 20, who was run over by her father in a parking lot at 89th and Peoria avenues Oct. 20, is still in the hospital in very critical condition, police spokesperson Jay Davies said.
Family and friends told police that Faleh Hassan Amaleki, 48, a resident of Glendale, had become upset with
his daughter because she had become too ‘westernized' and described the hit-and-run as an attempted honor killing.
During the incident, Amaleki also injured his daughter's friend, Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, a resident of Surprise, who is the mother of Noor's boyfriend.
On Oct. 24, Noor's brother, Peter-Ali Almaleki, told CBS 5 News in an exclusive interview that the tension between his father and sister began in the past two years.

“The people she's been living with is what triggered my dad's anger. She (Noor) is married to an Iraqi and lived with him in the Middle East until recently,” Peter said. “After arriving in the U.S., she moved in with a new man and my father didn't approve.”
He said the past two years, his sister has been going out of her way, being disrespectful and he didn't like her new boyfriend.
“For a traditional Muslim family, that disrespect was the ultimate insult to my father,” Peter said.
He said his sister has undergone spinal surgery and there is a chance she may never recover. He also said he does not know where his father is; however, he did call to ask how his sister is and his mother yelled at him and hung up.
Police are still searching for Almaleki, who was last seen driving a gray or silver 2000 Jeep Cherokee with Arizona license plate, ADS-9192.
