Actually, I think the whole scenario is a 'Face Saving' operation, it would come as no surprise to learn that the Americans have PAID to be allowed to withdraw with a modicum of military unity.

The fact IS, that they have created their own 'Nemisis' in Iraq and the only thing missing is the good strong 'Boot in the Arse' they so thoroughly deserve as they 'Withdraw'.

Fortunately, the majority of the troops are so high on drugs, they do not really comprehend the damage they have done to themselves (and the innocents of Iraq), which would explain how it was that some of the 'Addle brained Saps' were waving their arms in the air declaring "We,ve won, we brought democracy to Iraq", as they trundled through the ruins of the villages they were 'Allowed' to pass through unhindered.

Time alone will tell whether it is 'Withdrawal' or 'Retreat', the people of Iraq are not quite as stupid as their invaders. (IMHO)

Another useless contribution by another fool !!

Pakistani Taliban hint at attacks on aid workers

By RASOOL DAWAR (AP) – 2 hours ago

MIR ALI, Pakistan — The Taliban hinted Thursday they may launch attacks against foreigners helping Pakistan respond to the worst floods in the country's history, saying their presence was "unacceptable." The U.N. said it would not be deterred by violent threats.

If one reads the article you highlight, surely the obvious question should be 'WHY' is the presence of those that are offering assistance "unacceptable" ?.

What does it mean when it is suggested that those who are providing aid are not really focused on doing so but have other motives.?

What actions have given rise to the comments that there are other intentions 'Behind the Scenes'?.

What prompts the Taliban spokesman Azam Tariq to state that "No relief is reaching the affected people and when the victims are not receiving help, then this horde of foreigners is not acceptable to us at all" ?.

There must be something afoot, the warnings are quite clear and something must be taking place which is not being openly reported.

The remainder of the article, which is far more informative, deals with how much aid and assistance IS being afforded to those unfortunate flood victims, the whole purpose of which MUST be designed to convince us of just how much those who are administering help, care for the victims.

How then does one report so greatly contradict the other, are we once again facing a situation where the TRUTH will have to be guessed at by those who are a little more discerning about that which they read in the newspapers (or view on T.V.) ?.

Thanks Lit,

here is the link from BBC:

The UN is reviewing security measures for its aid workers in Pakistan, after a warning of new threats from the Pakistani Taliban.

PS: message to Insan: feel free to post any incriminating posts about the Roman Catholic Church - it just goes to show that you don't have a basic understanding of what you are saying.

Pakistan takes security precautions
August 27, 2010 - 9:09AM

AAP

Pakistan is taking strict security measures to ensure foreigners supplying aid for flood victims are not hindered by Islamic fundamentalist groups, a Pakistani diplomat says.

Pakistan's Sydney consul-general Hamid Khan said even before the latest threat from the Pakistan Taliban to attack foreign aid groups, security had been tightened.

"Special measures are being put into place and have been put into place to ensure the safety and security of all international aid workers," he told ABC radio.

"Because the very last thing that Pakistan needs at this time is for any miscreant to cause any mischief at all which would impede the relief effort."
