Somali Islamists kill two for watching World Cup

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somali Islamist militants killed two people and arrested dozens of others for breaking a ban on watching the World Cup on television, residents said.

They said the masked fighters from the Hizbul Islam group raided houses on Sunday and Monday in the Afgoi district, 30 km (19 miles) south of the capital Mogadishu, after hardline Islamist groups banned Somalis from watching the tournament.

"Hizbul Islam killed two people and arrested 35 others, all World Cup fans," Ali Yasin Gedi, vice-chairman of the Elman rights group, told Reuters on Tuesday.

"Islamists unexpectedly entered houses in Afgoi district and then fired (at) some people who tried to jump over the wall to escape" he added.

Hizbul Islam and another group, al Shabaab, which is widely seen as al Qaeda's proxy in the region, control large swathes of the country and much of the capital.

The groups enforce their own strict interpretation of Islam, routinely banning sport, music and dancing.

I am amazed sometimes how blinkered some people are ,, OPEN YOUR EYES and see whats happening,Iraq was getting out of the control of the brits and americans,Iraq have one of the biggest oil reserve in the world and sadam had started selling oil around the world in euros and not dollars and this would have been a financial loss to the americans, and at the begining of the Iraq war only 3%of americans believed Iraq was a threat, now with the never ending propagander 75% think they are still a threat.The zionists also believed Iraq were going to be too big to contol with all that oil , and a threat to israel,,and we all know the outcome from the invasion, and while israel are backing the break up of Iraq with mosad financing and training of breakaway groups,ask yourseves why.cypruts should know all about divide and rule,are we going to see a kurdish state in the north and two other states for sunni and sheites, and taking the threat away from israel , and america controling all the oil. Under the convension the americans at the end of the war must release all prisoners, but america decided not to do this and are technically still at war , So when an american soldier get himself killed , its been done by a FREEDOM FIGHTER , but when iraqi kill iraqi thats different,,this started after the invasion, a bomb in a sunni place of worship a bomb in a sheite place of worship, and it does not take long as we all know to turn on your neighour ,but while all this is going on america are rapeing iraq of its oil and getting it for free,..... all we are doing is breeding more and more hate in the muslim world against america and israel ,
