Have things ever been worse?

Postby Svetlana » Wed Oct 28, 2009 12:46 pm

Apart from the World Wars, has the world ever been worse?

Millions dying in Africa through starvation, AIDS and various wars.

HIV/AIDS is out of control in Russia, overtaking alcoholism as the country's worse problem.

A global recession.

The rise of militancy amongst Islam Fundementalists.

The growth of Piracy.

Global Warming - take for example Egypt - 95% of the inhabitants live in 5% of the land area - the Nile Delta. Within 50 years, much of the Nile Delta will be flooded forcing people to move to the barren desert areas.

The growing number of Nuclear Powers.

There's loads more to be depressed about, feel free to add to my list.

OH well, Fig, if the world ends soon, you will not have to worry about a Winter job ;-) Have you applied for anything yet?

Enduring the injustice of a divided country where its indigenous people don't have the right to of return to their rightful towns, villages and homes is very depressing and much closer to home for all of you. Unfortunately, there is no light at the end of the tunnel either... :(

Oracle and DT missing in action is also depressing. The forum ambience has dramatically changed without them! :?

Australia losing the Ashes to the bloody Poms....

But on a brighter note, there will always be some miracles that will lift us, and humanity will prevail and hopefully we can solve our many problems as well. We live in hope...

Oh, nearly forgot to mention that the 24 cans or 4L of wine restrictions at Bathurst 1000 is a major kick in the guts for us 'convicts'.

Lana, if you are feeling depressed, come downunder and I will cheer you up....
