Because we have a foreign invader controlling a portion of our territory… isn’t that known to you?

correction. Christians of the island butchered your Muslim brothers. That's why the island is divided to prevent further massacres and Schengen shall not be applied until partition is official.

What brothers… the ones that invaded and enslaved Cyprus and the Cypriots for 400 years? If that’s your interpretation of “brotherhood” I piss on it!

PS: I piss on you too…

TCs(CTs) = Muslim brothers of mohassib. You are not in the picture of brotherhood christian killer.

There's no thing such as a planned date. It will probably not happen before Turkey becomes part of EU (God forbid!) or "the Cyprus dispute" is resolved (which would never happen if you ask the forum members :P )

i assumed that it was valid to travel to Cyprus on a Schengen Visa. Many Russians use them to travel to Cyprus. But you cannot work here on a Schengen Visa, only for holiday.

Russians don't travel here on a Schengen Visa, they require a Cyprus Visa (which is quite easy for Russians to get).

From the Consulate General of the Republic of Cyprus in St Petersburg:

In the last few years our Visa System has had to undergo major transformations, primarily as a result of Cyprus' accession to the European Union on 1.5.2004. Since then, we have moved succesfully from a Visa-free regime for holders of Russian passports to the stage where we find ourselves today: one step away from full harmonisation with the Schengen regime. Starting March 2009 the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus made a decision that the Russian citizens, holders of the valid Schengen visa (category C, one, double or multiple entry) who have already visited Schengen area according to the requirements for issue Schengen visa which they hold, can enter Cyprus without national Cyprus visa and stay there for the period equal to the remainder of the duration of stay provided by Schengen visa and leave Cyprus before the date of Schengen visa expiry at the latest.
Please note that the Cyprus visa keeps its national status and doesn't give to its holder a right to use it for entering Schengen zone.

All along, our major concern has been, and still is, to make this transformation as smooth as possible and to keep the system simple and transparent, for the benefit of our prospective visitors.

I was only a year wrong!

I think the bloke is asking because he reckons he can get a visa for Cyprus which if we were part of the Schengen agreement would entitle him to travel to most of Europe.
