Looking at the TC claims of pre-74 land ownership…

GC = 82% (majority) = 71.5% ownership

TC = 18% (minority) = 26.7% ownership

One could be forgiven for thinking that the tiny 18% TC minority were an extraordinarily hard working and industrious people who saved every penny investing in real estate and establishing themselves as major land owners!

One would also have to conclude that the TCs would’ve been employing many GCs as farm/land hands with such a high rate of land ownership p/person!

You could also deduct that the TCs must’ve been the richest (p/capita) of the two communities!

Is there an honest Turkish Cypriot out there who can come forward and confirm this (logical to TC figures) scenario? :lol:

I take it that the scenario above doesn’t ring any bells to any Turkish Cypriot… just as I remember things too! :lol:

Many times we replied to ur nonsense with rational arguements. Since u still insist on ur official, false, so-called RoC data; why shall any TC keep repeat the same rational arguements against ur crap! :lol:

Every statistic (number) tells a story so you would expect that if…

TC = 18% (minority) = 26.7% ownership

…was true then certain other things would’ve also been true!

But you and I know otherwise… :)

From personal memory and impression, and I was quite young at the time, at the time of independence and later a higher proportion of GCs lived in major towns than TCs. People in towns tend to have smaller plots of land than farmers. This would skew the figures towards TCs having a higher proportion of land than GCs, although of less value as town plots would usually be a higher price per donum.

This issue has largely been dealt with.

The majority of the difference relates to properties Turks claim are owned by EFKAV. I believe this issue (at least in relation to some of the properties) was taken by Turks to European Courts, where the records of the land registry (originally ran by Britain and after 1960 by the RoC) prevailed.

That said, I would not rule it out for our "flexible" GC leadership in the spirit of cooperation with our Turkish brothers to forget about all the legal mambo jumbo and just accept the Turkish position (or perhaps "negotiate" TC claimed ownership from 27% down to 26% and then celebrate another success/ progress - which can later be used as a basis for not putting any pressure on Turkey in December, so that the steady progress can continue)

Can we stop kidding ourselves, when did the roc government buy 25% of cyprus, I suspect that all the government land which the british took off the ottomans then gave to the roc.

Now we'll have it back, thankyou.
