GC = 82% (majority) = 71.5% ownership

TC = 18% (minority) = 26.7% ownership

One could be forgiven for thinking that the tiny 18% TC minority were an extraordinarily hard working and industrious people who saved every penny investing in real estate and establishing themselves as major land owners!

One would also have to conclude that the TCs would’ve been employing many GCs as farm/land hands with such a high rate of land ownership p/person!

You could also deduct that the TCs must’ve been the richest (p/capita) of the two communities!

Is there an honest Turkish Cypriot out there who can come forward and confirm this (logical to TC figures) scenario?

I don't know the actual figure but my paternal grandfather had about 12 children from three wives (not all at the same time you understand) He left them all land in his will and my dad being the youngest got about 40 Donums that I have mentioned several times....Thats a lot of land...How many where there like that GR.....Land was not worth much then....If I remember, from the one time my dad showed me the Kocan, it was worth about 30 shillings....Now stop being a malaga and think straight.....You have escaped my attention for a while but you are getting very fidgety again and I might have to give you a good seeing to!!!!

Secon point is that TCs own fairly large chunks of land within the city limits of Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos, all three areas are way up in value compared to 1974, and also they are way above the value of any land in the north. There is no reason for the TC owners to agree to any exchange or sham compensation scheme.

So it is not the GCs who will be the first to balk at the prospect of a compensation/exxchange scheme but the TCs.

One example is the town of Lefkara which has been declared a historic setllement and is all under a preservation scheme. House prices there are sky high. Almost a third of Lefkara is TC owned.

So what is Talat/Turkey to do with these TCs? Force them? Threaten them? Buy them out? With whose money?

Partition is a better choice than anarchy. After all, forcing a bitterly divorced couple to live under one roof is doomed to failure...

We never got "married" to any Turks. They came here without our agreement by invading our island and forcefully imposing themselves. If they don't want to live under one roof with the majority of the population of this island then they have the right to go back from where they came from so they can live among a majority of Turks. But they have no right to commit crimes such as stealing and ethnic cleansing.

Hello 1960 agreements we a form of union which is considered as a marriage of the 2 communites, ignoring it or denying it will not get you anywhere...is it the basis for any future solution.

In the late 70,s and 80,s there was a clamber for exchange land or compensation Nikitas because of a panic that some would not get anything.....Without security the same can happen again....I know my dad would look at offers now when he would not then.....Time and patience is running out.

I take it that the scenario above doesn’t ring any bells to any Turkish Cypriot… just as I remember things too!
