BBF is supposed to do away with that mantra. Obviously with that issue out of the way there is no room for special status for anyone.

Nothing special about it Nikitas......We want what is ours on our own island....Not for you to make it sound as if you are giving us something as a minority....

Fair answer Zan. You have what is yours and the Greek Cypriots will have what is theirs. Canr be feirer that that. When does the transfer of properties begin.

You speaking for the GCs??? Even Makarios had to compromise on that fair swap because of the PRESSURES he had to face from his own......Now a fair swap is being decided...It seems you want to forgo what is yours as long as you can live in your village......You don't want that little part of representation because as far as I am concerned they have not offered it???

I was not talking of swapping. I was going on about what you said. 'What belongs to the Tc's is theirs'. On the same token what belongs to the GC's is theirs too. You cant have one without the other, or can you? I thought you were giving back the GC's their appropriated properties. My apologies if I was wrong.

Every time I made the offer I was told that I was a minority and they wanted what was theirs but would not give me back what was mine....I was told to get back to my land, that they doubted I owned, and live as a minority and shut up about the Zurich agreement. Now if I lent you a hundred pounds and you gave me back fifty would you be happy or would you want your pound of flesh......This is where the negotiations start......Or do you just let it ride and hope for the best????

It is you whois talking in riddles in answering Nikitas. I told you I am no politician. You have to be more specific .

As for my rights, I think I have them. More rights than I have when I visit the North. Come a settlement, I would be lost for choices where I would like to settle. I am sure you would too.

Now its good night from me.

Nothing about being a politician...That is always your excuse. There is nothing the least bit fuzzy about what I wrote....My land, my home my dignity.....That is what I had in Cyprus at the age of three and that is what I want......How can I be more specific.....You have read what I have written for a long time now and you want more specifics :?

Stalin decided that the post-war boundary of Poland would be shifted westwards, making it part of the Ukraine under his control! The Polish population were kicked out and replaced by Soviets

So, if I understand correctly, you consider that because Stalin nearly 100 years ago did the above, it is ok for Turkey to steal all GC properties (incl mine).

You appear not have heard of the ECHR and other courts, the decisions of which Turkey has willingly AGREED to obey. If Turkey wants to be a state of barbarians that goes around forcing people out of their homes and then colonising their lands, they should say it. On the contrary, Turkey claims to be European and wants be in the EU. You CANNOT have it both ways - and WE (Cyprus & Greece, at least) will make sure you WILL NOT.

For Turkey to jon the EU and perhaps more importantly to become the regional superpower it wants to be, it needs zero problems with its neighbours (its stated position), including a solution in Cyprus.

Arbitration can be applied ONLY where the party involved has provided his/her prior consent to enter into arbitration. This is NOT the case with private Cyprus properties.

-If the proposed solution is a BBF it is unlikely to pass in any case.

-If it is a BBF similar to Annan (i.e. GCs being forced to sign off their properties), it will have the SAME fate as the Annan plan.

-The ONLY chance (and it's small) for a solution is a plan that is based on a BBF, hence addressing the main concerns of the Turks, but where human rights are fully respected. This does not mean in practice that all refugees will go back - but it does mean they will have the OPTION to do so. Effectively, this will guarantee that compensation given will be fair i.e. if the price offered is high enough, one would be happy to sell (the basis of market value is Willing buyer, Willing seller).

Gregory like most GCs confuses rights to their property and actually getiing it back. Example is the TC land owners of Larnaca airport. They have the right and they will not return. Simple. Its called compensation and arbitration.

It is YOU who is confused. All over the world, governments LEGALLY make compulsory purchases of private property to use for PUBLIC projects, such as airports and roads - these stand when challenged in any international or European court.

Do you have any evidence suggesting that GC-owned land in the RoC has received preferential treatment in this respect? (i.e. that the RoC has used MORE TC-owned property than GC one, on a proportional basis, for public projects?). If not, then you do not have an argument.

GC leadership has, at the negotiations, accepted that such purchases, even by your Mickey-Mouse state, in the north will be accepted and owners will be paid compensation (i.e. roads, hospitals, airport, etc). I specifically excluded such properties in the thread post.
