A New Lawsuit against Turkey in US

Postby RAFAELLA » Thu Oct 22, 2009 12:02 pm

A Washington law firm has just issued a press release on its multi-billion dollar class action lawsuit against Turkey regarding domestic property issues in the northern third of Cyprus (aka Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or TRNC), which Turkey seized by military force in 1974 and has continued to occupy, currently with 43,000 troops.

Confused, exactly WHO is suing the Turks???

And if by a miraculous miracle the lawyer won, and even by a bigger miracle Turkey actually paid, to whom would this money goto??

I think it is just more yankee postiering !

It will die very quickly unfortunately.

Hey, there's no harm in trying a? At least some attention may be brought to the invading, murdering antics of the Turks.

perhaps the Yanks would suddenly realise that there are more people on the planet other than themselves

Go for it!

All citizens of the USA are Americans under the US constitution no matter what ones ethnicity may be.!

@B25,

Class action lawsuits are very common occurrences in the USA and often in large amounts. The recipients of such awards are divided amongst the victims who sign up to be part of the class action suit after the lawyers take their 40% of the award. It costs nothing for the victims to go forward with such suits.

Hmmm. 40% of 400 billion dollars. That could make Mr Tsimpides rather a wealthy individual.

Yes it would Tim, but in all reality, he will hope to settle out of court at far less then the original amount asked for. Even 1 1/10th would be a lot of money to go all around that would make the victims very happy as well as the law firm involved, which would require a very large team of lawyers to handle such a case. And yes, unimaginable bonuses and partnerships will be given to many lawyers if such a case was to be won by the law firm in question.!

Considering the North Americans were being called as Yanks during the American civil war and the first phase of Greek emigration to America took place after some decades of the American civil war; seems Greek Americans have nothing to do with Yanks except living in the same country.

Isn't the term "Yank-Yankee" thrown at all Americans by the rest of the world no matter which part of the country (USA) one may actually comes from or how long ago they had immigrated to the states. Hell, YFred calls me a Yank and I had only lived there for 25 years and I'm from Cyprus.

OK, truth be told, I have also been called a “Atlantic Wetback”, which is designed to separate all the “wetbacks” who come into the US across the Rio Grande.!

Insan, stop being such a prick.

I used the term Yanks to denote Americans, USA, or whatever, why do you need to give us an American civil war lecture FFS.

Would you like me to rephrase my original post??????

Kik, thanks man, I understand now, how can I sign up or do you need to be an American Citizen??
