“Now do not think about the solution!”

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

“Now do not think about the solution!”

A telephone conversation between Erdogan and Talat revealed that the Turkish policy after the 2004 referendum was not the solution of the Cyprus problem

Under the banner front page title “Now do not think about the solution!”Turkish Cypriot daily Kibrisli newspaper (19.10.09) reports that after strong demand from its readers it publishes again the telephone conversation between Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat. The conversation was held after the referendum in April 2004 and was published yesterday simultaneously by Kibrisli and the Turkish Aydinlik magazine, which belongs to the Labour Party of Dogu Perincek. The paper reports that the Turkish Prime Minister told Mr Talat not to talk at all about “two states” and leave others talk about this. When Mr Talat asked what he should not talk about, the following dialogue took place:

“Erdogan: That is, “we should be recognized as two states”, this and that!

Talat: But, please of course let us not forget the solution.

Erdogan: Do not think about it (the solution) now.

Talat: Ok, I know, I know...”.

Commenting on the telephone conversation, Dogan Harman, the editor-in-chief of Kibrisli argues in his column today that “the policy of Erdogan ended up with fiasco” and wonders: “Erdogan has put forward the policy of struggling with the embargoes and drew back the other policies. What happened? Was he successful on this issue or did he fail completely?”

Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika newspaper (19.10.09) refers to the issue under the title “Erdogan-Talat telephone band” and reports that these records reveal how the telephone conversations between Mr Erdogan and Mr Talat were listened to by the “deep state”. “People are curious about the relations of the two press media which were selected for the publication of the content of the band with these forces”, writes the paper and points out that Mr Erdogan told Mr Talat that the former Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktas (or “the number one” as he called him) was finished.

Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Volkan newspaper (19.10.09) refers to the same issue under the title “Scandal” and calls on Mr Talat to talk and say whether he discussed with Mr Erdogan about “finishing” Mr Denktas. The paper reports that the Labour Party asked the same question to Mr Erdogan during a press conference it organized in Ankara.

No, my friend , do not worry, Turkey will not sell you down. It has its own reasons to not do so.Not your interests, not your safety, but,, internal reasons.Yoy can tell me why you have to care, result is the same. You are right. You can understand political issues much easier than the G/cs and their leadership.

This is the reason i am shouting continuesly to my brothers in South to stop consider Cyprus problem as their internal issue between G/cs and T/cs since this guide them directly to the losers side.

The problem must remain as a dispute between Greece and Turkey (Greek politicians must be pushed on this direction) and always as part of the oil resources in the Aegean sea.

This is the only way Greeks of Cyprus to survive as such in the Island otherwise they are going directly to a disaster.

39 years now should be sufficient time for learning....

A raid was carried out in the premises of Aydinlik magazine which revealed a conversation allegedly held between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Mehmet Ali Talat

Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika newspaper (20.10.09) reports that a raid was carried out yesterday in the premises of Aydinlik magazine in Turkey after it revealed a band containing a conversation held after the referendum in April 2004 between the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat. The vice president of the Labour Party (IP), Bedri Guntekin stated yesterday that as IP they condemn and protest against the research and the raid carried out yesterday morning in the Ulusal Kanal and Aydinlik magazine. In statements at a press conference at the headquarters of his party in Istanbul, he gave journalists the opportunity to listen to the cassette recording of the alleged telephone conversation between Erdogan and Talat.
“The security of the TRNC means security of Turkey, the existence of the TRNC means existence of Turkey”, argued Mr Guntekin and added: “The defence of Turkey starts in Cyprus. All the governments of the State of the Republic of Turkey before the AK Party have discussed the Cyprus issue with exactly these expressions. They discuss it at the Assembly, determine policies and put it among the fundamental principles of the state”.

Mr Guntekin claimed that after they stated that they have acquired the tape with the conversation between Talat and Erdogan, the public prosecutors of the Ergenekon investigation carried out a research at the headquarters of the IP in Istanbul and tried to prove how they acquired the tape. He said he does not know how they acquired the tape.
