12,000 people murdered by GC between 55-74...aparently.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

GCs killed whom serving in the British Army during WWII?
Can you explain us what are you are talking about?

All I know is that some 30,000 GCs and some 5,000 TCs joined the British Army during WWII in order to fight the Axis, and this is one of the highest contributions of men in proportion to the population that have ever been given by any country, in terms of manpower. The entire population of Cyprus then, was only 450,000 and the contribution equates to almost 8% of the population.

any answers very welcome.

of course some will reply with "how many lives were lost under the ottomans" any answers to that are also welcome.

Unaccounted!
In only 3 occasions, the following:
During the first 5 days following the conquer of Nicosia by Lala Mustafa, some 20,000 civilians, 2/3 of the Nicosia population.
Some 10,000 after the conquering of Famagusta in 1571.

Some 2,000 on the 19th of July 1821 and the subsequent days, because Archbishop Kyprianos was a member of the "Filiki Eteria" which organized the mainland Greek revolution in 1821.

The GC population remained practically unchanged from the number it was before the Ottomans conquered Cyprus until the time the British took over, some 300 years. Under normal circumstances, it should have at least tripled during these 300 years.

hmmmm.....whats all this convenient stuff? i was passing comment and now i get convenient this and convenient that, wow man you just learnt a new long word that you think gives credit to your opinion?

blimey must have touched a raw nerve there. And to think only a few posts ago i was stating how full of admiration i am for President T-paps

how significant is the website?

it wasnt the website who interviewed him was it? It was a newspaper who interviewed him. how significant was that newspaper? significant enough for a Eu Memberstate President to agree to be interviewed by, and that is pretty significant.

Where has this information ended up, check it out under the title of

"Does the President suffer from memory loss"

submitted as written evidence to the UK Government's Select Committee
for Foreign Affairs. please ask how significant the UK Govt is.

for your convenience, not mine i have entered the link below. Conveniently all you need do is, put your mouse over it and click. If i may be able to render any further convenience, please let me know.

Dodging the question again lol....I SAID suppose the president did say that...WILL YOU ADMIT THAT THE BANNER AND OTHER SUCH STATEMENTS IN THE SO-CALLED 'TURKISH CYPRIOTS EXIST' MARCH...IS A BUNCH OF LIES???

you and the rest of Gabaston and the Gang can try to take as moral high ground as you want...but what you are proving right now is that no one can take you seriously...because for every Turkish wrong-doing...there is some kind of misunderstanding behind it. Why cant you just come out and say that the information portrayed on such banner's are a bunch of lies??...simple as that.

I hope all these people, especially the kids, on that march dont 'hate' the GCs. It would not help with a solution..

but again...is this march an example of the 'diaspora' of TCs and GCs being much more backward-thinking than their 'homeland' counterparts??

I wouldnt call the Cypriots abroad 'backward thinking'...we just stick to tradition more because it's the customs our parents / grandparents left Cyprus with and to us it's a way of life. Try going to some places in Cyprus now and simply asking for a stick of koulouri, haloumi and a tub of tzantziki...people will laugh at you and call you an old villager.

As for politics, I dont think most of the Cypriots abroad are up to speed with whats going on in the homeland and in some aspects, yes they could be backward thinking.

As for those slogans, to me they are just made up for TC kids to hate GC's and push for permanent separation. Its the same kind of propaganda as TurkCyp telling me every single GC is responsible for the deaths of TC between 1963-1974, because they didnt vote out Makarios or something.
