12,000 people murdered by GC between 55-74...aparently.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

mikkie2

when i read that article i did not beleive it. i was expecting a denial from t-paps. however in light of no such denial, i am reconciled to believing this is t-pap official stand on the matter.

its a bit like erdogan saying

how many gc's did turkey kill during the invasion? none.

hang on a minute

lets say that that number of people have died as a consequnce of enosis.
it may have a bias on its wording granted. but hey lets be honest for a moment what was all the troble about in the first place.

answer enosis, and or ethnic cleansing of tc, both of which were instigated by gc.

ive said that gc did not kill 12,000 tcs once and i've just said it again. the poster does not claim that either. think it through. it may be provocating, however if that number have been killed as a consequence of enosis then make your own judgement on the cost of enosis.

how many have died either fighting for or against, or as victims of enosis, and who instigated enosis?

im making no judgements, im just trying to show you another interpretation which has been overlooked

All of a sudden you decide not to be judgemental...very convenient. Aww come on...just admit its supposed to show that Greek Cypriots murdered 12,000 TC and its a lie.

If your feeling open to opinion all of a sudden...why dont you ask yourself why the idea of Enosis came about? Why is it that history of the Cyprus problem conveniently starts in 1955-1960 to 1974? You think the Enosis idea started in 1955?

If Mikke didnt state that the Papadopolous article may have been wrongly translated...would you have made a point that you doubted those actual remarks were made?

The argument you make for saying that Papadopolous didnt come out and deny it, is the same argument i can make about that banner...does it say including so and so deaths? In both cases...I wont give the benefit of the doubt.

Besides, if Papadopolous DID come out and deny the statement made in the article? Well then what if you missed it? How significant is that website? How many other websites are there that falsy accuse the Cyprus government or any other government of wrong doings? Is he supposed to go around and deny evey false thing written about him on a various websites? How many interviews do you think he did, especially around the referendum period? Whether right or wrong...have you heard him deny anything written about him on even the major Cyprus websites??? Is he supposed to come out every week and deny it in order that every TC knows of such a statement? If he DID come out and deny it...do you think the websites who make a big deal of the article would wont to make a big deal of his retraction of the quote? I doubt it, dont you? I dont know...as much as you hate him because he is a Greek Cypriot leader and nothing more...do you REALLY think the president of any country could come out with such a blatent lie...considering that his government have agreed to look into what happened to missing TC?

but lets say for arguments sake that we refuse to give Papadopoulos the benefit of the doubt...because this is what is on paper and we have no evidence that this article was wrongly interpretated or edited....would you also condem people who go around north London and spread such lies? You also have no evidence that such a banner was made to include the deaths of so and so people.

Have I broken this down enough for you be fair in judgement (because at the end of the day...that is what we are all doing in this particular forum)..or are you still going to sit their and act in denial.

hmmmm.....whats all this convenient stuff? i was passing comment and now i get convenient this and convenient that, wow man you just learnt a new long word that you think gives credit to your opinion?

blimey must have touched a raw nerve there. And to think only a few posts ago i was stating how full of admiration i am for President T-paps

how significant is the website?

it wasnt the website who interviewed him was it? It was a newspaper who interviewed him. how significant was that newspaper? significant enough for a Eu Memberstate President to agree to be interviewed by, and that is pretty significant.

Where has this information ended up, check it out under the title of

"Does the President suffer from memory loss"

submitted as written evidence to the UK Government's Select Committee
for Foreign Affairs. please ask how significant the UK Govt is.

for your convenience, not mine i have entered the link below. Conveniently all you need do is, put your mouse over it and click. If i may be able to render any further convenience, please let me know.

why did enosis come about?

i dont know, but for the Cyprus history books, after the Ottoman Chapters and before the Illegal Turkish Years it may well be time to enter a new chapter - The Enosis Years, clearly stating how many lives it cost, and why it happened.

Gabaston at the end of the day, negligable numbers of Turkish Cypriots lost their lives and most of those who did probably had it coming for being collaborators, turkish police torturers and TMT taksimists. I mourn the innocent dead but those who stirred the shit were left with shit on their hands.

If the overwhelming majority people wanted Enosis(96% of Greeks in the 1951 referendum) then democratically they were entitled to Enosis. All the Denktashist Mantras you come up with are merely excuses to which cannot erode the democratic will of the overwhelming majority of Cypriots at the time.

The principle of Enosis was right and nothing was wrong with GCs asking for it.The majority of Cypriots wanted enosis and therefore it was a legitimade right that should have been granted provided offcourse that rights are granded for the TCs too.
What was wrong was for GCs to insist for enosis after a constitution was imposed in 1960.
However in no way can u blame the GCs for wanting enosis in 1950s.You can only blame EOKA B members and supporters for using that principle after 1960. In no way you can blame simple people that with their votes in 1951 expressed their will to join with Greece as well as the majority of the people on the island at that time.

wasnt the interview given by Papadop to the Khaljeed Times in English? what translation are we talking about, does Papadop speak arabic or the newpaper reporter Greek.
Gos you guys you try to worm your way out of everything, time to just accept what he said and realize what he is capable off. Like his blatent lie about asking UN for resumption of talks he requested from Kofi which was flately denied the next day, Im sure you can also find a million and one reasons to try and explain that away as well, you have turned it into an art form, god help us.

Only the fact that it is mentioned "over 12.000 murdered by Gcs" without being specific of who is included in those 12.000, Tcs? Gcs? Polish? Zulu? it says a lot.
Easy for anyone to guess who's brainwashed and who is using the brainwash tactics to its youth. Sad though.

Anyhow, the turkish propaganda machine at its best!

Maybe the 12,000 includes those killed by GCs serving in the British army during WWII...
