How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Based on what definition I am a fascist??

It is one thing to say your opinion, and in democracy you are free to say whatever opinion you want and I have no problem with that, but you can not collaborate with the enemy in order to take away our human rights and democracy, because that is indeed treason.

Also I want to ask you another question. You have a certain idea of what the best feasible option is. Do you think that the kind of "solutions" you accept are also just and fair?

The main target for these people is anyone that has a vision of a compromise solution to the Cyprob. Now, and you mark my words, they will focus their bigotry on George Papandreou, who only the other day, went to Istambul and compromised the national rights of Greece and Cyprus, without asking the bash patriots.

The proposed idea is a form of proportional representation which is quite common in many EU countries and it ensures that political parties have fair representation in parliament and the executive. the major difference is that proportianal representation in Cyprus will work at the community level when voting for P and VP and not at political party level. The fact also that the presidency is rotating means that each community will have a fair representation at running the country.

Of course, elections in each constituent state would be on a 1 man 1 vote system, so I guess the lower house will be more representative of the population.

If the idiots on both sides actually stop and think about this, it is a good way of ensuring political equality without having the complex system proposed by Talat which is messy and could end up with taking months or even years to form a government. It also enhances cross-community co-operation which is VITAL for the future of Cyprus.

The only concern is that there does not seem to be a clear formula of voting if the population changes. For example, if the TC community increases in number more quickly than the GC community. This would need to be clearly defined so that the balance doesn't shift over time.

People need to realise that both communities need to work together. For those people that fear that Turkey will meddle in the affairs of Cyprus or force undue influence on the TC's, they need to realise that this sort of meddling will not be easy as electoral rules in the EU are closely monitored and any irregularities would be noticed.

I think Christofias has come up with a formula that the TC's will not be able to reject. The proof of the TC intentions will come when territory is being negotiated because having given the TC's what they wanted in the executive and governance, they'd better damn well give on the territory front.

What would constitute "they'd better damn well give on the territory front."?
How much?

YFred,
How much do you think?
What is the biggest problem for the refugees?
A fair solution is to ensure that as many refugees can return under GC administration. You cannot expect the refugees to pay the whole price for a solution.
Without taking the refugees into account, there will be no solution and you must remember that. There is no way that exchanging TC land in the south with GC land in the north would work, purely on the fact that GC land in the north is many times larger than what the TC's left behind in the south.

At a minimum, Morphou + outlying villages, Varosha + outlying villages and Karpasia would be reasonable as these areas were almost exclusively populated by GC's and would mean many more refugees can return under GC administration. This will also mean that fewer GC's return under TC administration.

So the TC's need to be more realistic. They cannot have everything so they need to give on the territory front. Its that simple.

Pres X gave a figure a few days ago, not in terms of land, but in terms of an automatic return of 80% of refugees to the old villages with the remaining 20% having a personal choice of return to a tissy zone or compensation.

Bear in mind Freddie that Pres X will have to sell this settlement to the RoC electorate, 80% return will prob swing it for him.

I agree with you, I just find it quite frustrating when GC politicians never talk of real figures or areas that would be acceptable.
Giving back what you said would have been done last time if TPapa asked for them, bit he refused to ask. I don’t see any reason why it can’t be done this time either.

I should think Talat will give back everything south of the main Highway between Magusa and Omorfo excluding Nicosia, Ercan and Lurucina.
