Sending items abroad..

Postby Svetlana » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:33 pm

I need to send a very valuable item to the US; I need it to be insured and obtain proof of delivery. Does anyone know of such a service or have had experience of using such a service from Cyprus?

registered mail works ok this is direct from the post office. if you want to be extremely secure and don't mind paying a lot, then; UP, DHL.

Lana Banana, you can go via the Cyprus Postal Services or via one of the many private international couriers. I don't know if its worth shopping around though for small items...

I will wander into the Post Office tomorrow; I need it both, insured ($9000) and proof of delivery. While I have evidence of purchase, I do not have evidence of value, which I may be asked for.

I can never find the DHL or UPS offices in Pafos; sniper, do you know where they are?

Thanks for the advice.

Lana

PS GR, following your comments about Malwarebytes some months back, I downloaded it and use it on both my computers.

Fedex is the most reliable. Having worked for them in the UK, I can assure you that service is second to none.

One thing you will need to do is........

3 copies of a commercial invoice (Just do one in word with your name and address, recipients name and address, description of what it is you are sending and the value of what it is you are sending).

This is for U.S Customs.

I agree with Hazza, FedEx is as safe as it can get. You will need to discuss insurance to cover the item at a replaceable value not current value.
I send quite a few high value items via FedEx to the States, never had a problem apart from some items involve a very heavy import duty and are inspected by US customs.
