Urgent Help and advice needed please

Postby junemichael » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:42 am

We had a car accident and the engine got changed on our car so we need to have the log book changed with the new engine number. We went to the road transport office who would not help us and would not speak english to us. Can anyone tell us what we are supposed to do and how please

failing that go back to where you had the engine changed on the car and ask them to help.
If they can change an engine on your car then they can help you out with the lazy arses at the transport office, offer to let them use your phone to call them if need be.
just dont leave your car with them if they tell you to as they will prob have your good engine out from under your nose.
good luck...

The easiest solution is to learn to speak Greek ;) Can you imagine if I was in the UK and I was going in some government office demanding that they speak my language? I think you got used that most Cypriots speak English but you should remember that this is Cyprus not the UK!

It was not the language that really caused the problem as we do know how to get buy speaking greek very well, they just were very unhelpful and basically pushed us aside.

Here’s the relevant section at the Department Of Road Transport’s website. Unfortunately, the English version of the website hasn’t been completed yet so you need someone who knows Greek to help you fill out the PDF form under the link…

amazing how cypriots are taught english at school though, i'm sure if all children in Uk were taught greek then maybe going into the government offices you can demand to speak to someone in greek.. don't you think??

Go again and take a recorder with you to record the conversation. If they refuse to help you again then file a complaint with the relevant ministry. I guess it must be the Ministry of Transportation. Or you can contact the ministry now directly and ask them what to do.

You’re just a miserable peasant who should’ve NEVER been allowed to enter Cyprus…

The ministry is officially called "Ministry of Communications and Works" and it includes the "Department of Road Transport"
