Postby pisces1 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:27 am

Hi

Would anyone know what papers i would need to bring the pet back with me(the actual procedures).

Just in case you didn't know, there are animal charities such as Paphiakos located in Paphos who have dogs waiting to be adopted - for free - in their shelters.

Cyprus has stringent anti-rabies quarantine laws. You would have to leave your pet in quarantine for 6 months unless it had been micro-chipped, vaccinated and tested for immunity in advance. This takes 6 to seven months to set-up and cannot be done for young puppies (they have to be older than a certain number of months, sorry can't remember exact age). The pet is issued with a passport by the vet with seals and signatures. Then a final anti-worming treatment has to be administered 24-48 hours before departure towards Cyprus.

All in all, it costs hundreds of Euros to set up, and many months.

Honestly, I don't understand the fascination with all those toilet brush dogs.

I am even more befuddled with people that are so F selfish that they would allow other perfectly good dogs to remain in shelters while they bring even more dogs into the country to satisfy their foolish fancies.

At least the OP isn't looking to being a St Bernard in.

They have the same strict rules as the UK which are country-of-origin dependent. You can access the relevant documents from here:

Thank you for the link O...I need to find out if my dog is allowed to travel from north to south..
He was originally imported to ROC from Serbia in 2008 then transported to north.
He has the EU pet passport issued by ROC.
He is micro chipped and fully vaccinated to ROC veterinary dept requirements.

I remember having a discussion on this with roseandchan (where is she :? ) some time ago. If the pet passport is up to date with the anti rabies, and you get a vet to do the 24-48hour pre-travel anti-worming, it should be OK ... one of those documents would mention precisely that situation for you.

What are you going to do iceman ... show your baby doggy your birthplace?
