The Cypriot Employers are taking the piss when it comes to pay. Nothing is cheap now in Cyp, but the wages have stayed at very low rates.

Young couples don't a rats chance in hell of making a go of it on the mickey mouse wages on offer and thats with both working.

Work for yourself then?

You need to Get real, not everyone can do that. Grow up Z4 FFS, we are talking seriously here.

i know. i live alone and on my salary, i just about make the month. I cannot save anything. although as a couple things are much easier as you share costs, etc. but things are too expensive and too difficult to save. although you some people who still live with their parents until they are 30 so that they can save money :)

Let me tell you something.

It is no different to living here in the UK. Between my wage and my other halves wage we don't earn a bad number on paper but the outgoings are so bloody high - we dont save either. The cost of living is so expensive over here.

I earn more money than you but my outgoings are more than yours. Who is better off?? No-body!

It';s not just Cyprus it's also the UK too!

Here we go:

Council tax (this is a low band) £120 per month
Electricity £100 per month
TV licence - yes we have to bloody pay to watch our bloody TV in the UK! - £10 per month
Food/drink - £400 - 600 per week (for just 2 of us!)
Petrol - £200 per month
Water - £40 per month!! This is a bloody joke especially after the amount of rain we get!!!!!!!!

On top of that - mortgage, Sky, internet, phoneline, life insurance (for mortgage) and car.

Do you want to swap?

I realize that it's not just Cyprus, it is actually quite worldwide. but it's a real shame that life is so expensive :)

I get so many urges to phuck all this off and go and live on an island in the Indian Ocean somewhere. Pitch my tent and live off fruit, veg and fresh fish. Castaway

jesus money grabbing christ, UK has become WAY too expensive! if you compare that to euro, one a 1 to 1 basis (since it will be like that very soon its something like 1.1 to 1 now) thats just -pardon me- retarded :o You'd have to make something like 3k a month to be able to live and thats not taking in consideration and loans you have to pay off (house, car, etc) or have younger children that need pocket money / education money. Sigh i'm so glad i'm still young :)

 No mate, that's what it costs. That price includes things like shampoo, soap, bin bags etc etc. All stuff to run and keep clean your house.

I never complained about anything, i think Cyprus has some very reasonable cost of living. If i can keep up with all of my needs, pay my loan(s) and still be able to put some on the side then we're still really really good down here.

Cyprus:

No mortgage.

No finance on anything else.

€200 a week shopping for 2 and anything between 6 & 20 people on Saturday and Sunday.

Utilities, council tax, internet, petrol, insurance and so on €300(?) per month.

Wife shopping in UK twice a year, God knows how much!

Over €4k net income between us a month.

No problem and plenty left over for KEO!
