Survey to be published in Politis and Kibris

Postby Alexandros Lordos » Sun Jul 10, 2005 4:09 pm

Next Sunday, Politis and Kibris will simultaneously publish the results of the most recent bicommunal survey.

I am now in the process of writing the article (each newspaper has pledged 4 pages), so if any of you who have seen the survey findings have any suggestions as to what I should say, based on the survey, please use this thread to make your case.

I will also be mentioning the important role that the Cyprus Forum has played in the development of the questionnaire, also giving the web address, so after next Sunday you can expect a flood of visitors to our site. :)

i think it shows a lot as to how people still think quite differently to each other.

In general the TCs seem very divided within the community as to what they want,
this may be possibly due to the differing political loyalties, to denktash/talat... i dunno if this is true as my knowledge isnt very good on that, but it could be a reason.

The Gcs on the other hand i think are much more united in the solution they invisage.

The TCs seem also to be more hostile to alterations to the plan, whereas GCs think changes is vital to its acceptance.

hope this helps

Alexandre,

I hope that the input you have received from this forum will be useful in formulating your articles. I also hope that they will be printed as you intend and not edited by the respective papers.

As to comments, well I have not given much feedback as I think the polls speak for themselves but one aspect that is important that needs highliting is the extent the settlers are affecting the response of the 'tc' community as a whole. This must be highlighted to give the TC's a clear picture on how their opinion is being weighted by the settlers. It also needs to be highlighted to the GC community because it may help them to see that perhaps what we consider TC's are actually a little way closer to our thinking than what the overall survey may suggest.
