To be fair, this article

http://www.milliyet.com.tr/Guncel/Haber ... %20acilimi

reports Istanbul - where the CD was distributed - Director of National Education Director Muammer Yıldız as saying, “Such a map, even if it was of another country rather than our own, would be unacceptable. This was a huge mistake which should not have been made and may give rise to various debates. I am very sorry.”

There hasn't been much info abt this scandal... but I don't think GOT trying to give the message "these r the places we would like to invade in the future."

In my opinion, someone(an enemy of Turkey or a friend of Turkey who wants to detach Turkey from some targets) did that to contribute the existing Turco-Phobia... maybe aimed to damage the relations of Turkey with her neighbouring countries; especially Armenia.

Some Turkish officials stated that it was put in the Cd-Rom by mistake... It didn't ring me true...

I'm sorry but this map was distributed by the Ministry of Education. There are no accidents here. Especially not from a government thats had 3 coups in the last few decades based on surveillance and monitoring of govt actions.

I don't buy the mistake excuse.

If it was a mistake then it will be amended.....If it is deliberate then you will still be talking about it in six months time because the same map will still be in the schools......This is why I keep posting the slightest hint of corruption in the "RoC" but still you guys are jumpy from the start

According to the article, the Director of National Education for Istanbul says that this CD was prepared with very limited resources and the map in question was taken from the Internet without being checked properly. It was an error and he has made an apology for it. To present this story as though Turkey were deliberately issuing maps that made blatant irredentist claims to schoolchildren as part of a new educational policy is hardly objective.
