I was in the US military and if we were such "crap" then why is it that Turkey pays the US military to train it's officers. There are Turkish officers at West Point, Annapolis, and many other officer candidate schools. The TAF have copied and adopted US training methods, rank and command structures. The sixth fleet by itself can destroy all of Turkey no problem. The US and British military saved the world in WW2. Yep We almost agree. They are very good at training, but once the Turks trained, they are better than the yanks.

FFS even Vietnam kicked your ass. So will the Taliban and eventually the Iraqis. The only country you defeated in history is Granada. Big wow. I'll have some of that. Make mine double.

Reh Americano, that was not my opinion. That was a factual statement that I personally heard a general make. They had the planes ready to dive into the 6th fleet if US interfered. I have no doubt that they would have tried it. Whether it would succeed or not it is open to debate. My own opinion is that the yanks are such crap soldiers that it probably would have succeeded. It was the yanks that did not believe pearl harbour could happen, and I guess that was me being delusional too.

I don't doubt that there are such delusional people in Turkey making crazy plans, but the fact is the whole Turkish Navy would have been obliterated if they attempted such a thing! No nation on earth could successfully take on the US Navy. Even the Soviets had an inferior Navy to the US, let alone mediocre Turkey!

Reh Simonagi ma bellanes yemu. He never said the navy. They were planning to fly the planes at low altitude into the ships.
Read the bloody posts at least.

Y-Fred, do you know how much air power the US can project from its Navy? Do you know how capable the US air defence Destroyers are? And how were these Turkish planes going to deal with US nuclear subs? The US could have destroyed every air base in Turkey if it wanted to, the Turkish jets wouldn't have got anywhere.

The Argentinians tried a similar tactic against the British with regards to flying at low altitude, and failed, and the US Navy is far more capable than the British.

Simon, there is no doubt that US has the best equipment but they are blessed with crap soldiers. So it counter balances a bit. They infact have the worst soldiers on earth. Why do you they stopped using soldiers and started using drones. You can't win a wars with drones.

Drones are going to be the future of warfare, trust me. No need to risk human life. Some US soldiers are crap, some are excellent. At least their Armed Forces are professional rather than conscripts.

What happens when ones sides drones are "dead"????

It is not just going to be limited to drones. In the future, all sorts of machines will fight wars without humans in the firing line. If one side's equipment is destroyed, they can send humans in as a last resort if they want to, but technology in the future will be so advanced that humans would be futile. This is how I see warfare developing.

No, I didn't say no lives will ever be at risk. What I said was, if you can use drones, there is no need to risk human life (for your side obviously).

Of course the future isn't certain. But these drones require humans to build them and will be controlled by humans from a Command Centre. So they will never be worth more than humans. They will just be the future tools with which to fight wars IMO.

YFred, you have contradicted yourself so many times you must walk around with your foot in your mouth. Your bull shit is very entertaining but I'm looking for intelligent conversation, so that means Turks are a waste of time.

If you watch American war films you probably do believe what you say about American military personnel, the fallacy that it was the USA who captured the first Enigma machine in WW11 and numerous other distortions of military historical facts.

Reality is completely different. In the Gulf War for example 20% of British casualties were attributable to attacks on them by Americans. This is nothing new. I recall my father, who served in WW11 saying that it would have almost been safer fighting Americans than fighting alongside them.

Incidentally your posting quoting myself as saying Turkey could have destroyed the 6th fleet is completely incorrect. I said no such thing. Perhaps it is no easier for an American to quote the correct author than it is to differentiate between an enemy and a foe on the battlefield.

YFred if you read this posting you still haven't said what a BTW is or is short for.
