Reh Americano, that was not my opinion. That was a factual statement that I personally heard a general make. They had the planes ready to dive into the 6th fleet if US interfered. I don't doubt that there are such delusional people in Turkey making crazy plans, but the fact is the whole Turkish Navy would have been obliterated if they attempted such a thing! No nation on earth could successfully take on the US Navy. Even the Soviets had an inferior Navy to the US, let alone mediocre Turkey!

Reh Simonagi ma bellanes yemu. He never said the navy. They were planning to fly the planes at low altitude into the ships.
Read the bloody posts at least.

Y-Fred, do you know how much air power the US can project from its Navy? Do you know how capable the US air defence Destroyers are? And how were these Turkish planes going to deal with US nuclear subs? The US could have destroyed every air base in Turkey if it wanted to, the Turkish jets (which are inferior US made planes anyway) wouldn't have got anywhere.

The Argentinians tried a similar tactic against the British with regards to flying at low altitude, and failed, and the US Navy is far more capable than the British.

One of the most stupid members of this forum, foolishly suggested that a war would resolve the Cyprus problem once and for all. Do u agree with him... if yes, let's talk about some possible war scenarios.

I have severe wet dreams of Australia deploying its ADF to the British SBA's and leading an offensive against Turkish Occupation forces in Cyprus, thus liberating the island in 5 minutes.

It would be absolutely great if Australia led a 'coalition of the willing', unleashing its wrath upon the inferior TA, scorching the earth within the so called "trnc". The operation would have to be led by Australia, because Australian troops are far too good and MUST NEVER again be placed under the command of foreigners. This would ensure victory just like it did in East Timor...

If only I was Australia's PM! :) I would put Australia's new Aircraft carriers to the test as well....

Some in 1916 had very similar dreams. See how it ended for them...

Read your link!

The first attempt at an offensive at Anzac took place on the evening of 2 May when New Zealand and Australian Division commander, General Godley, ordered the Australian 4th Infantry Brigade, commanded by General John Monash, and the New Zealand Infantry Brigade, to attack from Russell's Top and Quinn's Post towards Baby 700. The troops advanced a short distance during the night and tried to dig in to hold their gains but were forced to retreat by the night of 3 May, having suffered about 1,000 casualties.

Believing Anzac to be secure, Hamilton moved two brigades, the Australian Second Infantry Brigade and the New Zealand Infantry Brigade, to the Helles front as reserves for the Second Battle of Krithia starting on 6 May. This was the first major assault at Helles and gained about a quarter of a mile on a wide front at the now customary enormous cost in casualties.

The Turks launched a major assault at Anzac on 19 May—42,000 Turks attacked 17,000 Australians and New Zealanders—but the attack miscarried. Lacking sufficient artillery and ammunition, the Turks relied on surprise and weight of numbers for success but their preparations were detected and the defenders were ready. When it was over the Turks had suffered about 13,000 casualties, of which 3,000 were killed.[21]In comparison, the Australian casualties were 160 killed and 468 wounded. The Turkish losses were so severe that a truce was organized by Aubrey Herbert and others on 24 May in order to bury the large numbers of dead lying in no man's land. This momentary contact led to a strange camaraderie between the armies much like the Christmas truce of 1914. It was not repeated formally.

Face it Murataga, whenever Turks came face to face with Aussies you had your arses kicked.

Simon, there is no doubt that US has the best equipment but they are blessed with crap soldiers. So it counter balances a bit. They infact have the worst soldiers on earth. Why do you they stopped using soldiers and started using drones. You can't win a wars with drones.

Drones are going to be the future of warfare, trust me. No need to risk human life. Some US soldiers are crap, some are excellent. At least their Armed Forces are professional rather than conscripts.

The United States military personnel are the best in the world, all professional military. Your frustration is so funny YFred I love it. I was in the US military and if we were such "crap" then why is it that Turkey pays the US military to train it's officers. There are Turkish officers at West Point, Annapolis, and many other officer candidate schools. The TAF have copied and adopted US training methods, rank and command structures. The sixth fleet by itself can destroy all of Turkey no problem. The US and British military saved the world in WW2. We fought two majors wars against two superpowers at the same time, Turkey could have never come close to that. And yes Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and we beat the hell out them. But go ahead keep beating your head against the wall it's very entertaining.

Is that why you've got the Anzac day parade in Australia each year where surviving veterans sob their eyes out complaining about how they got done for in Gallipoli?

Drones are just one part of modern warfare, part of the reason the US needs them is because the enemy doesn't want to go toe to toe with the US they will beat the hell out of them. We use the drones to find these cowards in their cave and then put a missile up their ass. The USMC would be happy to go hand to hand man to man with the enemy but these cave dwellers are cowards.
