How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Morphou Resists The Occupation

Postby bill cobbett » Tue Oct 06, 2009 12:21 am

Never been to Morphou. Seen it several times from the mountain road that goes to Pyrgos. Look forward to going to Morphou after Liberation. In the meantime the good people of this town are resisting the Turkish Occupation.

This from CNA ....

MORPHOU - EVENTS

The Turkish occupied municipality of Morphou organises a series of anti-occupation events, to take place between 5 and 12 October.

The main event, an anti-occupation rally, will take place on Sunday, October 11, with the participation of President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias, members of foreign parliaments and other Cypriot and foreign officials.

Speaking at a press conference, Mayor of the occupied town of Morphou, Charalambos Pittas, said that the events are taking place this year again to condemn the “unacceptable and continuous Turkish occupation of Morphou and the occupation of part of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus”.

The anti-occupation events, he said, “send the message in Cyprus and abroad that we continue the struggle to protect our unalienable right to return to Morphou and to every corner of our semi occupied homeland”.

Another mug that thinks Turkey invaded to ensure Turkish Cypriot safety.

Its funny that Turkish Cypriots started the problems then moan about their safety. Bunch of cunts.

Morphou/Guzelyurt.....

Postby cymart » Wed Oct 07, 2009 7:25 pm

If the G.C's had voted 'yes' in 2004,they would have got the town back by now and it is worth noting that the Turkish Cypriots who have been living there since 1974 also voted yes, even though they knew they would have to move again and had already done so twice before.....whether they will vote 'yes' again is another good question and it perhaps worth noting that anyone can visit Morphou including Greek-Cypriots....
Sorry to have to be so blunt but this annual march charade is a bit pointless and not likely to help get the town back either, just like the annual events at Dherinia by a few nostalgic people from Famagusta that achieve nothing.Although maybe their case might invoke more sympathy because the town is empty and derelict.
These are the kind of tactics used by the so-called 'armchair patriots' who like to shout a lot about justice for their cause etc but in reality are leading people in the opposite direction by urging them to reject any moves which might actually chan ge the current situation!

Even if the Greek Cypriots had accepted the Annan Plan they would have felt that, as in 1960, they had been cheated since the Turks had dictated terms because of their military superiority. Sooner or later there would have been problems between the communities and I'm sure a breakaway north would have been internationally recognised.

One side has the support of a huge military power the other has the law on its side, it's a question of which will prevail. Turkey has, in pursuit of self-interest, poisoned any reasonable chance of a fair solution by importing settlers and carpetbaggers onto the island. Unless it is prepared to administer an antidote there will never be a fair and just solution for Cypriots.

Why are you using sock puppets, Bananiot?

You posted something similar in a different thread under the nic "Bananiot" not too long ago:

http://www.cyprus-forum.com/cyprus26595-20.html

The Annan plan gave Morphou back to its rightful owners. May be it wasn't that bad after all. Worth noting that the residents of Morphou voted in favour for the Annan plan back in 2004 and in effect, many of them, were prepared to become refugees for the 3rd time in their lifetime.

The ultra nationalist Greek Cypriots of this forum couldn't care less

Same brainless repetitive comments. You say the same thing over and over again under multiple aliases. cymart and Bananiot have the same talking points on Morphou, the Annan plan, DIKO, and EDEK.
You are an embarrassment, Bananiot. Going forward, can you just use one nic? LOL
