Is the term "barra"(begone) a coomonly used word of TCs and GCs? Where comes the origin of this word?

Know it is a Scottish Island, well at least an island off the coast of Scotland, so better not repeat the name lest it brings bad luck.

Talking of Scotland, I heard this on the TV the other night:

A drunken scotsman was seen pissing on a front door after a night of boozing. He then put his hand in his pocket, took out a key, unlocked the door and went in.
