“EU WILL APPOINT A COORDINATOR”

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

“EU WILL APPOINT A COORDINATOR”

Postby halil » Fri Oct 02, 2009 11:19 pm

EU COORDINATOR WILL PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE TALKS WHICH WILL BE CONTINUED UNDER UN UMBRELLA

The European Union prepares to appoint a coordinator to provide technical assistance to the Cyprus negotiation process, while the talks will be continued under the United Nations umbrella.

This was announced by TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat’s Special Representative for talks with the EU and the UN Ozdil Nami who has just completed his contacts in the EU’s capital Brussels.

An official announcement is expected from the Union soon.

Mr Nami told Bayrak Television that the EU Coordinator will provide assistance to the TRNC in its harmonization with the EU Acquis Communautaire.
Ozdil Nami said that during his discussions in Brussels, he noticed that leading EU officials welcomed the Turkish Side’s positive approach towards a settlement.

`I believe that we will see the fruits of our positive approach. For example, we have got the impression that the Greek Cypriot pressure will not yield to results on Turkey’s EU Progress Report to be issued in December` he said.

Answering a question, Mr Nami said that during his discussions with EU officials, the statements issued by the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barosso on the acceptance of a possible agreement in Cyprus as a primary law of the Union were once again reiterated.
He stressed that the Turkish Side’s position on the issue was not open to debate.

Upon being asked to comment on statements by the Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias in New York, Mr Nami said President Talat waits to hear directly from Christofias himself what he meant by the word ‘autonomous’.

`There is definitely a problem if Christofias used the word particularly with its widely-known old meaning`, he noted.

What more is there to say on this matter.?

Not much really. The EU is saying to the "trnc", "it's our way, or the Highway, take your pick".?

Let us write some of the above in plain English-

GC pressure on Turkey's EU progress will not have any effect, because Greece, France, Germany and Austria will have made their objections known before Cyprus has a chance to speak.

The possibility of any agreement being accepted as EU primary law mandates referenda in every one of the 27 countries of the EU, and that aint gonna happen.

The vital parts of the the agreement that the GCs are insisting on, ie the recognition of human rights, are not dependent on EU acquis but on the European Convention of Human Rights that has NOTHING to do with the EU, it is another treaty altogether.

No dead end mate. You will have no choice in the end but to compromise. You cant have it all your own way.

All our way? we dont expect that but we will not be forced into anything we do not want or will give the GCs the upper hand to do as they wish pushing us to one side.

Hypothetically speaking, if the TRNC were a recognised state applying for EU membership it would accept certain principles and rules. Those exact same principles and rules are what it has to accept now, inorder to make the settlement workable in the EU and valid.

It is simple really, no complex mathematics needed.

I wonder how long it will be before the heroes on this forum and the fascist media start attacking him for not agreeing with them.

The only thing you will have to accept is international law and the EU acquis......or Fuck off. Simple as that. Nothing else is negotiable. Is that clear enough?   8)
