Kadafi's UN address

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Kadafi's UN address

Postby humanist » Fri Oct 02, 2009 12:13 am

part of me could not help but applaud the man. especially around his comments on the UN, letting down smaller nations.

Cyprus perfect example. Why doesn't the UN really take action against Turkey based on the articles on Turkey's violation of human rights and its occupation of Cyprus.

Should the UN support the Kurdish population in gaining back their homeland lost to the barbaric Turkish State?

What about the British still holding their army bases in Cyprus which is against the law of EU?

I think Turkish army is in the north because Turkish Cypriots wants them to be there. There should be peaceful solution for all the problems. The UN is just a puppet in the hand of USA. How many times USA bypassed UN. Recent example is to invade Iraq and killed 1000 times more people then in the time of Sadam Husain who was the president of Iraq.

How Israel have been killing innocent people in Palestine but despite confirm reports of Israel war crime by different world organizations, no one put any sanction on Israel, Israel did 1000 times more crimes against humanity then Turkish but what the UN has done about it? UN is just a puppet in the hands Criminal states.

Why doesn't Kaddafi apply some of his cherished principles to his own people in the benighted country where he has been dictator since 1969?

How many times have you asked these naive questions? Haven't you heard of the "justice of the powerful"? Here in Cyprus we made our choices years ago and now we live with the consequences of our actions. In another thread we moan and groan about the imposition of a constitution on us in 1959. Nothing was imposed on us by foreigners. Everything came as a result of out actions. When we started an armed struggle against the Brits and anyone opposed to enosis, we should have known the odds and the possible pitfalls, especially the consequenes of failure. I think we were dealt a very generous deal under the circumstances. This pampering probably cost us dearly later on.

Bananiot you are entitled to your beliefs as I am of mine ....... mistakes have been made on both parts and the only option is to agree to a unification that is fair and equal for all Cypriots. Perhaps I am naive but we can't change the past but we can create a fair Cyprus in the future, because the current situation doesn't benefit anyone least of all the TC's, those who are making it hard. Sure there's the affluent some who want partition but the lay person needs money to put food on the table and pay the mortgage.

All I am saying is that you can shape the future with your actions. If we go for options that are not feesible then we will suffer even more. We have tried this and look where it got us. On top, we now think that we are the bearers of the sole truth and everybody else is waitng for us around the corner to do us more injustice. Well, there were times when we were on top of this game, only then, we did not care much about the universal principles of fairness and justice. But, this is another story.

We should look at our size, carefully note our cababilities, consider our allies and go for the feesible. In this way, not only we may have a chance for a fair solution but this will increase our credibility and friends will come to our aid.
